Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has passed away

I would go with 4 being appointed by rep presidents, 4 being appointed by dem presidents, and the 9th being selected by the 8 appointed justices.

Judges should never be permitted to appoint other judges.

Our judiciary is supposed to be apolitical, your idea makes the system 100x more political than it already is.

@BowlBrother85

See? Why would any Senator feel that representing this lot requires consistency? The go-to defense of everything is “the Democrats would do it, too” and the justification for everything is “the evil Democrats will gain power if we don’t!” If their constituents can be conned into believing both of these things simultaneously, why would any Republican senator worry over staying true to the statements they made four years ago?

When partisanship became the entire platform, there was no room left for consistency.
You are correct. They don't care that their own elected officials are hypocrites and liars. They have a built-in mechanism of justification where the ends will always justify the means. It's a blended concoction of "what-about-isms", hyperbolic fear-mongering, drawing false equivalencies, with red herring arguments. It's a platform of resentment and hate; nothing that will ever be conducive to bi-partisan legislation or inter-party collaboration. It is purely party over country for Republicans.

Because being only 6 weeks out in today's political environment makes it a prudent decision,
and so many repubs seem to support the concept of not naming a replacement in an election year (not just a year - six weeks).
Who said her last wishes should dictate policy?

So many Repubs seem to support that concept ? How many is “so many “ ? Is it like so many Dems won’t support Biden or like so many times that NaN went to get her hair done without a mask ?

I didn't realize that an 87 year old dead member of the supreme court had a voice in who replaced her? The republicans have a majority in the senate and the presidency, if your team doesn't like it they should have voted in the majority.
Vote in the majority? You may wish to change your wording.
Let the repubs do it. Nothing like some further division and more contempt for the right. It's probably appropriate as one of Trump's final acts; his worshipers will love it, the majority will hate it, and the country will suffer. MAGA

So says the party of hypocrites, whataboutisms, panderers and liars . Let’s just go with ..POT MEET KETTLE and call it good .

Thanks for pointing out all the more reason to make it happen as quickly as possible.

Yep. It is indeed a shame that there is only one party with pure motives like the Democrats.

You can’t spend 4+ years kicking , screeching , resisting , degrading and trashing a president and the Republicans and not expecting karma to bite you in the azz the first opportunity that comes along . America doesn’t suffer with a constitutionalist SCOTUS appointee .. only party agendas suffer . MAGA!

If only there had been some means on checks and balances in Federal judge appointments to insure that a bipartisan vote would be required to affirm the nominee. I don’t know ... something like a 60 % majority seems reasonable 😂
That was obviously never the case for the Supreme Court you ignorant dumb a$$. So, why are you bringing that up, as justification for this hypocrisy? Clarence Thomas was confirmed with a 52-48 vote in 1991. You guys are idiots, and constantly talk out of your butts.

You continue the left's war on women by making fun of Collins' essential tremor?

I kinda started that; give BB a break this time. He was pointing out that the she would probably lose to her dem rival, and I said Collins' opponent was a lot nicer to look at - and maybe to listen to. I get real tired of hearing Collins give her thoughts about turning against her party at a time when it's a conservative/liberal issue at stake.

You mean that whole "I'm rubber and you're glue" thing from the 1st grade? Yeah, that's about what I expected as a response.

You mean the same process that congress , the president , both party’s and the national media uses all the time ? Why is it that you just not being able to admit the truth without a slant .. doesn’t surprise me ?

haven't fact checked but seems legit

Is there a difference between 6 months and 6 weeks?
Six weeks and six days?
Six days and six hours?
Six hours and six minutes?

What you are legally allowed to do and what is appropriate do not always go hand in hand.

I say when you get the libs down, step on their throats.

It would not matter if it was 45 days, 9 months or 4 years. They lost bigly and will have to live with Trump's legacy for decades...lol

"Prudent", huh? You always respond with nebulous relativity.

And because when it suits you, you don't like it when political parties act political. lol

Do you have anything that isn't asinine? Like... Anything constitutional? Or are you just going to beg for mercy after the Democrats have played dirty pool against this administration for 3 1/2 years? (Hint: I don't think they're in the mood to give Nancy and the gang quarter after the ****-show they've run over the past 3 1/2 years, or cater to your relative sense of "prudence".)

Who said her last wishes should dictate policy?

Hold on. I have a quote for you. Oh yah!

When responding to:
Senator Chris Coons said today in an interview with Chris Wallace that we should honor RBG's last wish and let the next president nominate the next supreme court justice. LOL! Is he f'n kidding me? What difference does it make if Trump nominates a justice today or in 6 weeks?

You said:

Exactly. Just wait.

And then, even before that...

What??????????
That wish proves that she placed the responsibilities of her office above all else.
The American people should demand that her wish be granted.

Your memory issues should alarm you.

Ruthie was confirmed in 44 days, I believe. It's only fair to do that with her successor. You know.,.....the successor named by Trump.

You better because they won’t lift the boot when they are stepping on yours . I’ve said it for years that the Republican Party had no spine . I saw that change during the Kavanaugh “ job interview “ and all of a sudden the Repubs turned into d!kheads like the left has been for decades when it came down to politics and the attitude that goes with it . Now the left doesn’t like it at all since it’s not a one way street any longer .

I'll ask you. From an independent that wants both scummy parties burned to the ground...

Do you have any constitutional reason that they shouldn't fill the seat immediately? Or is it just going to be this weird blend of begging for mercy while trying to guilt the opposition after you've supported 3 1/2 years of ****-show dirty politics from the Dems?

Because that's just a weak and ugly look, to be honest.
