Freeze and Clawson are good ideas. Shane is not ready. He wasn’t ready for the South Carolina job.
They’ve definitely not been a disappointed, but I still feel that he is very unproven. I thought he got hired on his last name alone. He has not not a bad job, but I would not hire him YET to run a major program.Frankly, I think he done a hell of a job. He’s got lucky too but his kids have played hard for him. Every first year coach don’t get that effort ..... right? He’s not Rockne but he’s done a good job for SC this year.
Yeah its not even close...Chadwell is going to be an amazing coach at an upper level school one day...He's worked miracles at CCU...I was actually hoping we were going after him before we got CJH...He runs a fun offense.
He was hired because he was the recruiting coordinator in their glory days under Spurrier and they owned the state and did well in NC. They’re trying to replicate that in terms of the talent. But it can be argued that kids came to play for Spurrier more than Beamers charm and war-room skills. They’ve definitely not been a disappointed, but I still feel that he is very unproven. McCall got hurt early in the last game and didn't play but a play or 2...And they still only lost by 2...Losses happen, Can't judge a coach by a game he's lost....Players play the game and win and lose games...They make mistakes and get hurt etc.Not sold on Chadwell without McCall. They have lost two games this year.
Yes, but I remember hearing smoke about Bud when Tech was good, and it was mentioned as a reason (maybe the reason) he never left.
I cannot read this article.............. Who are the four candidates to replace Fuente?
Not a good look for Tennessee to hire Freeze and his questionable morals while trying to fire Pruitt with cause AND look good to the NCAA about being compliant. VT is simply firing Fuente because he didn’t do a good enough job.So, honest question:
If Freeze was an absolute, mortal lock, no-room-for-discussion NO for the HC gig at Tennessee just 10 months ago, why is he suddenly deep in the mix for VT?
I assume it is due to one or a combo of the following:
1. Tennessee has more pearl-clutchers than VT
2. Saban can't nix the hire at VT. You just don't beat Saban like Freeze did and expect Saban and his mouthpiece, Sankey, to approve a return to the SEC.
3. Some other element.......
Thoughts? VT is definitely one rung below UT, but still, if he was an absolute NO at Tennessee, why is he in the mix at VT??
I'll hang up and listen.
If you've got NCAA problems and use them as an excuse to run a coach, it's not a good idea to hire a guy with NCAA problems. So, honest question:

Foster was a drunken philanderer messing around with 20 something year old coeds but was a (wait for it)........."Good guy?" Really?Bud liked to party. Summers you'd often find him on Claytor Lake with let's just call them his daughters friends. He got away with a lot of stuff in Blacksburg as a DC he couldn't get away with anywhere else and not at all as a HC. Good guy though.
