if/when CP declares i think he'll be graded too high to fall to the pats...unless they have like 11 picks again this year and trade up :ermm:

True. But knowing the Pats, they probably have the first 6 picks of the draft.

I just hope he doesn't say his high school during the starting lineup intros on Sunday night football.

Selfishly, I was hoping that he would remain here; however the risk of another injury to him or his stats going down due to a new coach or new offense is not worth the risk.

I realize he has a son and needs to do what is best for his family.

Justin, welcome to the Miami Dolphins. I hope you like south Florida!!!!!!! * He is projected to be a Dolphin*

Jason Allen came back his senior season to move from safety to corner and it almost cost him dearly. His had a hip injury during the UGA game. He recovered and was still drafted in the 1st round though.

A. Foster returned for his senior season and his draft status fell ALOT! From draftable in the second round to a non draftable practice squad player.....

You raise a good point. What is "best" for his family? Now would that be a shot at the NFL or getting a 4 year degree?

Guess Hunter has decided but it reminds me of someone playing the lottery with their last dollar in the hopes of winning and providing for his family, rather than learning a skill or trade and having a stable path for the future.

So the die has been cast. We'll see in the years ahead if JH's decision was best for his family.

That would be Bray imo.

Agree. Hunter is really the most prepared.

I think ever since he returned from injury he has been a little bit hesitant to throw his body out there to make grabs.

It may be partly mental but I think there was some deliberation to this in that he was already thinking about the draft and didn't want to end up injured again.

I think you will see his recent case of Stone Hands clear up nicely once he suits up on Sundays.

good grief this is ridiculous. There is no expiration date on getting a diploma. Can he still play in the NFL at age 50?

he will be making more next year than 99.9% of the 2012/2013 graduates of UT. Once he's done with the NFL (or even while playing) he can call up UT and be put in a program tailored specifically for athletes to get their degree. There is nothing for him to lose

his athletic ability is more of a golden ticket than his possible UT degree

Why? Because he will be avg in the NFL, he is still saying he will play on Sunday, but if he drops as many passes as he did this year or run the incorrect routes he will be sitting on sundays...

Well if that's what we are going by then Patterson Will be garbage then. How many tds did this guy drop again when he was wide open??. He's terrible at running routes. He will just be another guy playing on Sunday. (Sarcasm) Patterson will be great in time and I think hunter will be better than what you think he will be.

Good for him.... To have just won 5 games, this team has quiet a few guys that will be drafted over the next couple years.

Not so fast.......Randy Moss

?

Moss was a beast coming out of college. He was not a light, wiry, fast guy like Hunter. He was simply a freak of nature. He'd knock someone down going up, bring it down, and keep on running. Hunter has Never knocked someone down, rarely brings it down when he has to go up, and seldom keeps on running if there's contact around.

I love #11 and thank him for his time here. But mentioning Moss in the same post???

Child, please!

A degree doesn't mean nearly as much in this economy. Good luck JH. Represent the Orange.

LOL

For some degrees you are right. For many technical degrees however the need is great as ever.

And does this current economy stay with us forever? Probably will until this Enrtitlement Generation realizes bigger government is an unsustainable position to take and we make the necessary cuts to fix it.

The 2013 minimum NFL salary will be $405,000. That's 50 times the average annual salary in Alabama.

How many entry-level technical positions pay $405,000/year?

Not saying JH is the player Moss is, but their measurables are very close. Same build as well.

B/c he can't get a degree later on? What you are suggesting is that it is better to be a carpenter or car mechanic than a professional athlete...

so would any current junior at UT turn down this deal:

- leave school now for the next 3 years and earn $1mil+ in salary
- call when ready to return and we'll get you back on the fast track to your degree

just because that deal is only offered to athletes doesn't make a difference. It would be dumb to turn it down

Lol his signing bonus alone will be 6-8 million. Plus, making 3 mil a year, I think he's making the best decision for his family.

I'm stunned that the lure of playing for Butch Jones wasn't enough to keep him at UT for another year.
