Justin Worley - Gatorade player of the year

I'm only bumping this thread to express my gratitude to Justin Worley for a job well done. He worked hard, waited his time, and gave his heart and soul to the Vols during some really tough times. He easily could've transferred or quit when UT hired the new coach but he stuck with it.

Justin ... I wish you a speedy recovery and hope you have a long, successful career at whatever path you choose. You are a VFL, my friend.

Just goes to show that High School accolades does not always translate to the College Game. Hope he becomes a winner in life.

Absolutely. Worley guided this ship to the best of his ability. The only things that put him on the sideline were a shattered bone and shredded tendons. That's a tough SOB in my book... any day.

I'm proud of Justin. He took a beating this year but never got down on his teammates, and continued to give his all for Tennessee. I'm proud of how he conducted himself on and off the field. I don't have any doubt that he'll be successful in life.

He wasn't the best fit for CBJ's offense for which he was not recruited. Had we stuck with a pro style offense he may have exceeded expectations. For better or worse we'll never know.

He is already looked at as a winner in my book. I have nothing but respect for him.

Agreed. The kid took more hits than any other Vol in at least the past 20 years. He gave his all for Tennessee, we just didn't have the line to compliment his particular skillset.

A true pocket passer is not much of a QB without a pocket. I hope he excels in life post football. He bled orange every week for the VOLS.

Hope Bray is finishing his college course work so he graduates soon. Looks like the NFL Phenom is not going to tear up the NFL.

Agreed. As tough as they come. Gave his all for Tennessee...1000% VFL

Exactly, and that is what I saw from him. He also helped us through our toughest time as a team (last season and this season). He is the QB that gave his all to give us a constant at that position (even though he got hurt both years). Honestly, the fact he got hurt both years while giving his all just skyrockets my respect for him. Because of what that he is a true VFL and will always be looked at as one from me.

How can u say that when he never got a chance to play a "pro-style" role in an offense? I guarantee you that if we had even a decent line and an offense that was tailored to his skills that he would be one of the best in the conference. The kid can put it on a dime if given the chance, unfortunately the offense and offensive line worked against him.

Poor Worley never got a chance to showcase his talent because "such and such". I hope his shoulder heals for the NFL combine and UT's pro-day. He had a pretty good OL last year but was still benched in favor of Peterman. He had more INT's than sacks last year so don't give me the BS about the OL. It is a fact that he does not fit CBJ offense which is not "Pro-Style" so let look at the Dooley years. He had 1 TD and 5 INT's and only 3 sacks on 110 attempts.

That is why I say being named Gatorade Player of the Year did not translate to the college game. I don't think he would have done any better if he played for Bama. IMO.

He also didn't have a coach until CBJ got here......there is that too.

Four years under a good coach can make a world of difference. Hell, a singular offensive scheme for four years would have helped a lot.

You missed the point altogether. Regardless of skillset or ability, Worley stayed true to UT and helped us through some trying times. He played behind a patchwork line and got hammered over and over. He kept coming back to the huddle until his body wouldn't allow it. THAT is the definition of a VFL.

This was never meant to be an indictment of his Gatorade Player of the Year award. I would have bumped his recruiting thread to make my statement but it was locked.

Back off the ledge.
