Kamala Harris ‘ready’ to debate JD Vance

Doctors prescribe a lot of opiates because people want opiates. The desire for opiates isn’t coming from the doctor but rather from the patient. It’s a backwards way of looking at to problem to believe the issue started with doctors.

That narrative exists because it’s easier to blame your doctor for your problems than admit the truth.
Doctors are in a literal no win situation in most cases when it comes to prescribing pain medication.

This article was nonsense but overprescribing by some doctors is an issue.
None that I’ve worked with.. they really don’t like to prescribe opiates and will only do a week at a time of the pretty mild opiates..and non-narc options like neurontin and ultram etc have become more popular so they don’t really have to go down that road.. tramadol is sched 2 now, but it wasn’t before, and I have yet to see someone with a tramadol problem 😂 they will even try antidepressants and anti anxiety meds.. short of post surgical or cancer, they will try something else if possible now.. it’s just too sticky

Good for the doctors you've worked with. Unfortunately that's not been the case for many others. The problem's well documented.

The “problem” (I disagree it’s a problem) are what people typically call “pill mills”. Meaning pain management clinics that have low or no standards for how they practice. That’s not all pain management clinics (some operate very ethically), but for sure it is some.

But people who go to those clinics, know what theyre going there for. The idea that these are just people who trusted their doctor and got addicted to opiates because of it, that notion is mostly a false narrative made up by the media and the junkies

Hydroxyzine is technically an antihistamine sometimes used for anti anxiety for some people it works I guess, and most drugs have interactions with something 😂 Docs know the contraindications or look them up just like we do 😂 We also get black box warnings on the EMAR if there are known mod to severe interaction on a med list..there are a lot of safeguards in place unless they just willfully get ignored

It wasn't limited to pill mills and it was absolutely a problem. A lot of GP's were overprescribing and the death toll and social costs were high. Ideally the problem's now abated.

No one was getting medication they didn’t want. The problem (I disagree there is one) is primarily with pill mills.

You’re looking at this problem from a completely backwards way of thinking. It’s like blaming pharmacist for the meth problem

Answer this…do you have any way of knowing how much pain another person is in? And do you believe the death toll was due to people taking medication the way it was prescribed?

If not, then the problem isn’t with doctors.

Repeating it doesn't make it true.
Not backward at all, it's what happened. Doctors overprescribing the pills led to a lot of death and addiction from people using them recreationally.
What's your take on how the opiod epidemic came about?

Yep, we were taught in nursing school that pain is subjective and we have to see it as what they tell us, you can document the objective observations though, they were smiling, they went to sleep, no distress noted 😂, but it is what they say it is.. it’s very hard spot for the doctors to be in, you want to address people’s pain, but you don’t want them becoming dependent either

People have been abusing opioids well before the late 90s and early 2000s. People still abuse opioids and die from them in numbers far exceeding the late 90s and early 2000s despite stricter regulations. The answer is obviously not over prescribing. What changed was access to government health insurance to pay for your addiction at the taxpayers expense

I’m guessing we agree that you can’t know how much pain another person is in?

This is a narrative junkies tell to gain empathy. Because “I wanted drugs and telling the doctor my tooth hurt was the cheapest way to get them” doesn’t sound good. So it’s “I trusted my doctor and now I’m on the street!”. It’s nonsense and not backed by facts or reality

Sadly, I have a family member that went this way. You can't blame doctors but they could help.

Forgive me for pressing, but he can't be without issue. No one else has been able or willing to explain their beef with JD. So if you can, since you know of him pretty well, what do you think are the issues which turn people off from him?
He likes the lord of the rings which is racist and reeking of Arianism . He named one of his companies the ring.
Rachel madcow.

(she started at A jumped to m then ended at Z. Tic tic tic, I have trumps returns)

Idk if it was before or after you posted this, but I described my issue with him. He’s on the Bernie Sanders, YangGang, Tucker Carlson end of the spectrum when it comes to economic policy. He’s a firm believer in economic interventionism as opposed to free markets
