Kansas State Starting LT Scott Frantz 2md FBS Player To Come Out As Gay This Year

Mad? Hardly. I just think this whole coming out thing is just a way of getting attention and nothing else. Why do you have to announce to the world what your sexual preference is? If you're gay, fine. Be gay. Making a public announcement is just pathetic.

Calling something pathetic seems to suggest you mad.

If you do not understand why an American athlete coming out, especially in the world of football, merits some sort of announcement in today's age of social media where there is no privacy and the sports world still hasn't truly accepted gay people, then that is pretty silly.

It is lame.

What do you mean the sports world hasnt accepted gay people? What exactly is " the sports world?"

While the media has accepted, a lot of fans have not and it can still be taboo in the locker room. I can completely understand coming out as a D1 athlete in today's age because of social media and the lack of privacy in today's culture.

So for " the sports world" to accept, everyone gas to? Get real, will never happen. Other than a few players tweets, what evidence is there to support that " the sports world" hasnt accepted it? There are gay athletes in lots of sports that are accepted.

Not in American sports necessarily. I think fans have the biggest problem with it (look at this thread as your biggest example. It probably is not a big deal among college kids especially but I am sure there are some professional athletes who would be uncomfortable with a gay athlete on their team.

This thread shows very little people that actually have a problem with a gay person playing a sport. Most seem to have issue with all the hoopla surrounding it.

The fact that the "hoopla" appears to bother so many in this thread kind of throws a lot of doubt on your first statement.

No, the hoppla discussion is largely, wondering why everyone makes a big deal out of it. For instance, i dont have a problem with the kid being gay, i dont really care who he sleeps with. But id rather not see endless amounts of stories about a guy that isnt really good at football possibly getting drafted in the 7th round.

Because it's such a huge burden on your life?

Outrage over the hoopla is usually code for something else.

If the kid being gay doesn't bother you, then people discussing it shouldn't bother you either. It's as big of a deal as you make it.

Outside of this thread on VN, where else is this particular football player's story being discussed at length to where the word "hoopla" applies?

No, becuase the focus of story om draft day should be about guys that are good at football and have a shot at the nfl. Thos whole such a burden on life is stupid. If the top qb in the draft is gay and you want to post stories of his past up bringing and struggles, great have at it.

Who is outraged? This is the problem with communication in the interent age, you are either throwing parties each day and waving rainbow flag in celebration of another social victory or you are outraged. Just stupid.

And my statement was about things like draft day hearing story after story about a guy that isnt good. Id rather see the guys that can actually play football. But we all know it will be much like Sam. A 7th round pick with little to no shot at a team, then story after story about him not getting a shot because he is gay. They are tons of good college players that dont get a good shot or make it on the nfl. The only reason folks outside the south know M. Sam is because he is gay.

I was speaking in general terms and not to you specifically (otherwise I would have quoted one of your posts), but hey, if you're gonna take the bait...chomp chomp... :birgits_giggle:

And if fans or even teammates have a problem with that, so what? I do know if you want to make your sexual preference public knowledge than the public will be happy to chime in, either way.

And unlike that episode of Seinfeld, for many on social media, there may be something wrong with that.

With being gay?

The real question is, has Mr. Frantz every partiicpated in the armed robbery of a student at Kansas St?

Good, you did seem curious.

I love this technique. Complain about athletes outing THEMSELVES, then turn any response into "you're one of them".
