Kavanaugh Confirmation

Forgive me, but I'm not buying the context argument. Neither you nor I were there 35 years ago to truly understand the context in which things were written. As for the college roommate, he was admittedly not really part of K's group of friends, and, from my understanding, they had a somewhat contentious relationship. If these terms truly had such devious meanings, where are the HS classmates? Why are they not coming forward to challenge his definitions? His HS peers would be the ones to go to for the definitions, would they not? It is their yearbook.

An honest question, do you realize when the left creates these kinds of circuses, they are pushing those of us in the middle toward supporting the right? This may play to their base, but it doesn't play to those in the middle.
I would imagine it was a small circle of d-heads that were using those terms and they thought they were being cool and clever. They also evidently have no desire to keep their buddy off the bench while at the same time embarrassing themselves.

One indisputable fact is that a large segment of the US thinks that a perjurer and probable sex offender was just sworn in. They then get to watch the celebration of those responsible.

As to your last question, of course I know and they know. We also know that many were forced in the other direction by the circus of the right. I think all on both sides are acutely aware that the gap is widening....MAGA

It's not trolling, it's honest. All the screeching about the Constitution under the last admin had suddenly become silent. It's clearly hypocritical and this thread is a great example
It's politics, like everything else. We all know what a loss here could have meant for the court based on the next 2 elections. Is it hypocritical to get most of what you want vs little of what you want or is it just facing political reality?

One day people will realize it's a dumb game and the ones who claim they're "winning" aren't even really playing. The main issue I've brought up with this justice is a huge part of that

But what is the end game? I agree the process is completely bastardized and has gotten progressively worse since Bork as each party says "hold my beer" with every nomination. The elimination of the filibuster rule ensures this will keep happening.

From "known perjurer" to "I would imagine" and "thinks that a perjurer"...

@Weezer , you've made progress. Congrats.

Now, could you work towards getting him to see that we don't feel the need to dispute the fact that a large segment of the US are fragile and should grow up? Then remind him that "elections have consequences".

Thanks.

A vindictive Justice with a questionable view on the 4th. Not sure why this is being hailed as such a great victory.

So I'm assuming the part you're referring to getting ignored is his view on the 4th Amendment? The great thing is there are 8 other justices on the SC to balance that. Every justice has views on the Constitution that some would question.

I'll admit, I am happy Kavanaugh got confirmed. Not because I'm on the Republican team, not because I'm a Kavanaugh fan, but simply because I found the Democrat attempts to usurp the process to be disgusting. And before the question is asked, yes, the GOP refusing Garland a vote was disgusting as well. Not to the same degree as to what the Dems have done, but still wrong.

They keep chipping away while we're are happy getting "most of what we want". I have a hard time understanding how anyone could take pride in claiming a political party

A large segment believes him to be a known perjurer.
Just like a large segment thinks OJ was guilty even though he was found not guilty.

It's just how the sausage is made. In fact, I'd argue that if more people played the game of "most of what we want", we'd all get along a lot better.

Been this way since the beginning. Form your own party - we need more of them. There's idealism and there's reality. In a nation of over 300 million it's hard to imagine anyone getting all of what they want and "most of" is pretty good.

If my most of is preservation of notions like freedom of speech and presumption of innocence then I'll take it

They all know, it's just more expedient to play the naive idiot. In other news, Felice and Boudeaux Bryant claim that "get their corn from a jar" means they really like popcorn. After all, you know how crazy those music people and their silly lyrics can be.

Funny to see all of the celebration over a known perjurer being sworn in as a SCJ......MAGA.
Lol.

Spine? That's what you call it? I'm going to need to get a Redhat to English Translation dictionary.
Boof - fart
Devil's triangle - drinking game
Spine - a$$hole
Corn in a jar - popcorn

If you like your insurance you can keep it- lie

I've given up on parties and am just on local races. They're still parties but easier to navigate

Ties into the 4th right?;)

Next time I go home I’m finding my yearbooks and seeing what idiotic **** people wrote in them.

And then I’m burning them all.

No joke! I'm guessing that if we all had to be judged on stupid crap written in our yearbooks decades ago, a lot of us would have to give up our professional licenses and/or change professions.

Some people do actually grow up, mature, and develop better judgment and self-control. We can tell jokes without taking everything so seriously. We can enjoy a beer or two without being an alcoholic. We can go on to have awesome families and impeccable careers, despite making countless mistakes and poor choices when we are idiot teenagers.

Some people don't. They lack stability and are easily influenced by mass media and political hysterics. They lack conscience and are willing to use threats and false accusations to push their agendas. They blame others for their shortcomings.

This whole thing has been a huge fiasco. I really think it has demonstrated the true composition of different groups in this country. The elections this fall and in 2020 will be interesting to follow.

You needed more proof?
How many times have I said Trump is a once in every 300 years catastrophe?
Fair enough. All your arguments henceforth will be greeted with the horse laughter they deserve. I will give credit that you finally admit your hackery though.

Go home luther. You lost. Again.

And get used to losing.
