Hopefully Herring is comfortable in that role then. Looks like he has no choice but to adapt fastBeasley’s calling is being free to take the ball after a play develops. He’s been great covering space, qb runs and short passes. He can help call plays and set defenses, but we don’t want to lose his range or coverage.
Eli Herring played in all 11 regular season games last season. Bennett was heavily “experienced”. We upgraded with talented freshmen.
Pili wasn't tried and true in Knoxville.LB was the weakest position on the team last year outside of DB. If Herring, Bennett, or a newcomer steps up then great. You don't count them as tried and true until they make a difference on the field. Until then having one guy that is an experienced playmaker is always concerning. It's a risk until someone shows they're ready. I like the potential.
Yup…just imagine if on offense we had to plan to rely on Nico only already. And LB is not an easy position to just step into. Glad we have Beasly; but if he goes out for an injury, we will really be hurting.I'm not sure why this is so hard for some to get.
The potential is there but losing an experienced playmaker who came in as an instant starter is concerning.
He is still about six years older and has seen that much more football and that much more of life. So much of the positive talk we had around him in fall camp was about his maturity. So now that he’s out, are we really going to pretend we didn’t say and hear all that?Pili wasn't tried and true in Knoxville.
Ok...didn't change my opinion. He is still about six years older and has seen that much more football and that much more of life. So much of the positive talk we had around him in fall camp was about his maturity. So now that he’s out, are we really going to pretend we didn’t say and hear all that?
Not say the sky is falling, just that, if we were going to lose a player, he would probably be in my top 5 of one’s I didn’t want to lose.

You don't seem to understand that all of Pili's experience weren't even in the Eastern United States? He is more raw in the defense than Eli Herring and Herring is about the same size physically. It is a loss for certain, but even without Pili our LB Corp is far stronger than last year. Arion Carter is physically ready to play and there are multiple options they can use. We are weaker than last week, but nit dead. We will get a chance to see how they adapt to a smaller rotation in this weekend's scrimmage.I'm not sure why this is so hard for some to get.

Jeremiah Toelander is ready to contribute to...I still can't believe that Roman Harrison hasn't broken out yet and really started making a hell of a difference on that defense. He's been there 5 years and showed nothing like to caliber of player he should've been coming outta high school. It;s almost as though he comes and plays like man possessed at times and then just shows up to play like he doesn't belong up there on the HILL....Agreed. Let's see how Herring and Carter do
Would he qualify for a med redshirt?
