Keenan Pili Injured?

Pili had 4 tackles against UVA. If we cant replace that production we are in bad shape.

Surely you know there's more that goes into playing MLB than just tackles. Anticipating play calls, calling coverages, making line reads.. this is where there will likely be some drop off. We have talent behind him but it's young, hopefully he's back by USCjr or A&M

Why can't Carter play the MLB spot. Why is he only a WLB? Is it purely a size thing. They should at least try him out to see if he is better than Herring.
Herring is a stud as well and has experience. He’s our starting MLB for the next two years regardless.

I don't buy that. I don't understand the reason he is like that. Media knows to not trust his injury comments. Fans are very quickly learning it (most should well understand it by now) that its a game he plays. So does anyone really think opponents don't know what he is doing??

He said last week that Mays would be a game time decision for Virginia BUT, Mays hasn't practiced since he had surgery almost a month ago. Hard to believe his injury comments.

I'm not one who really cares what he says about the injuries but hate to see others believe what he says or think there is a strategy to it. Just don't see the strategy part at all. Using comments to fool opponents went out the window many years ago. With the internet, the truth comes out very quickly.

He really doesn't owe any of us fans any information about an injury at all. No more than "he is out right now with an injury to some part of his body and he will return when he is healed and ready to go". If the player wants to elaborate, fine. More reasons not to give details than there are to be specific.

I say let him apply for another injury rs and transfer somewhere that could use him next season. Herring and carter will be grown by uga, and we ain’t bringing this guy first game back against uga, essentially just to have him for vandy.
Why run off talented depth?
Keep him around, because it is good to have an older guy with his head screwed on straight with a young group. We'll be that much better next season.

Then maybe they stop asking over and over again and we ALL win? 😴
I think he just needs to quit pretending like it's not a big deal when it ends up being a lot longer. I'm fine with him not wanting to share much. But with his track record I'm going to assume Pili is out most of the year.

Until he 100% KNOWS he's gone, I don't see the benefit of confirming it...cept for gamblers.

Not trying to he a smart butt, but where are you all reading/hearing these things? 3 pages in & so far someone has read or heard:

He will be out 2 weeks

He will be out 5-6 weeks

He’s out for the season

Its a shoulder tear

Its a tricep tear

He’ll be back by GA

He’ll be back by Bama
He’s got a broken bone in his ear… the smallest one of the three. It’s called the Pili bone.

I totally agree. and that enforces the notion that he doesn't need to state misleading information IMO. Especially for this rabid fan base.

BTW Mays started doing stuff on the sideline today...

I mean the reality is that injuries and the fair availability of that information is really important factor for sports gambling.

Wouldn't be a problem if it hadn't been legalized, but now that it has hopefully the sec will professionalize injury reporting across the league to prevent people from getting insider advantage when betting on games. Huge problem that could potentially impact integrity of competition.

Unfortunate news. We need to stay healthy. Herring will slide into starting spot and will get a head start on the next couple years as a leader of the defense. Beasley can play both spots. Carter will continue to get more time and Kalib Perry will begin to be part of the 4 man rotation. If more injuries occur in this group, McDonald could play Will as we have alot of bodies to play Star.

That is really good news that might bode well for the swamp.

McDonald is not gonna be playing Will… Stop pulling stuff out of your a$$…

After further consideration, I think we should forfeit the remainder of our games. Without our linebacker, we will all fail. Not just the football team but with us personally - likely ruin any relationships or job opportunities. Probably drive a car off a cliff or maybe cause the apocalypse or some nuclear catastrophic event because we don’t have a linebacker that we had three days ago. Totally abysmal - probably all going to die. Hasta la vista.

Some guys are just injury prone. At least we get 2 weeks and a live game to work the youngsters. Just accept that mistakes will be made. As long as they're made going all out, I can live with it. Excited to see what these young guys can do. To be honest, this might be a blessing in disguise. For me, this was always a transition year. Next year Nico takes over and if we handle business in the portal, we should really be ready to turn a corner in the east. Figured injuries would bite us...just didn't expect it to be like this after week 1 but it is UT we're talking about. 8-4 was my expectation. Let's just get these youngsters ready to play and enjoy the ride. Good luck to Pili. Hope he recovers and has a chance to play again this season. If not, thanks for choosing UT.

This sucks badly. I think this is gonna hurt our defense tremendously. Transfers who start immediately means their position needed a major upgrade.

The sky isn't falling

2011
AJ Johnson MLB - Freshman All American
Curt Maggit SLB - 8GS 56 Tck 5.5 TFL

2015
Darrin Kirkland Jr MLB - 66 Tck 6.5 TFL 3 Sck

2019
Henry To'o To'o MLB - 72 Tck All Freshman SEC

It sucks Keeban Pili is hurt but even if it's a season ending worst case scenario, as a few others have mentioned, it shouldn't be catastrophic.

We actually have a recent history, even through the dark ages, of getting quality out of freshman LB.

Next man up.

Hate that pili really passed the eye test and played well was expecting a big time year from him… confident in the ability of herring and Carter to step up though praying for a speedy recovery and no more injuries for KP going forward…
And a good guy apparently. Came in from out west, bought in, was respected in locker room, and stepped up to a starter role. What a shame for this guy. Dang it.
