She is a D-1 coach but I am saying she shouldn’t be. Especially not at a Blueblood program which is the Tennessee Lady Vol job. Respected by her players, no way. I’ve seen players tune her out on the sideline.I am not a KJH supporter at this point in her tenure, but I think there are a lot of disingenuous things in your post. She clearly IS a Division One coach, lol... I mean that's been her job for oh, 19 years I also would disagree with saying she isn't respected by her players. They must love her (i.e. Rickea choosing to come back versus opting for the draft). Her record would probably viewed as a "good coach" at any other school ( other than Uconn, SC, Maryland, Louisville, Stanford), but that isn't going to cut it at TN. Good shouldn't cut it here. I agree she is horrible at coaching offense.
Rickea choosing to come back….who wants to play in the WNBA, the pay sucks, the schedule sucks, who really cares and who is really watching. She’s probably making more playing for the Lady Vols than she can make in with WNBA. That reasoning doesn’t hold water.
Her record would be good at any other school…The Tennessee job is any other school…..any breathing competent coach can win 20 games a year at Tennessee (all be it with CH as coach that gets further in the mirror every year). The banners hanging from the ceiling will always get us enough good players to win 20 games a year. In the big scheme of things, there is only a handful of good teams that can win it all in the women’s game. Compared to 25 teams in the men’s game that could win it all.
All I am trying to say is CH isn’t good enough to coach at a program like Tennessee. She doesn’t demand respect from her players. Is terrible at in game decisions. Is terrible at coaching offense and defense. She is also TERRIBLE at recruiting. I think with all that said, that is every facet of the game. It’s not personal. She just isn’t good enough to be coaching the Lady Vol program.
