Kelly Washington

Didn't we smoke Michigan about 3 weeks later? Agree it sucked! I had all but purchased my plane ticket to LA. I thought it was our high ranking and expectations in 2005 that was more disappointing. It's hard to beat an SEC team twice in a year.

We boarded the bus on the way to Atlanta for this game and there were 2 couples that boarded the bus late and of course had roses handing them out and that was when I just knew it was going to be bad. I looked at my friend and said they better not try to give me one. I along with a couple of other let them know we in no way had this game just because they lost their best offensive weapon RB. Then we knock out the QB and I thought ok here we go. That was about it. Heart is still somewhere in the east side upper deck in the dome. UGH!

I recall a lot of fans and even some on here over the years stating the beginning of the end of TN football coming as the way Fulmer handled the Kelly Washington premadonna situation. I for one thought he was just lucky in thd LSU reg-season game and recall him skipping out of bounds the next year against Fla instead of going for the firat down. Realistically, how many of you give credit to him fo r start of the decline?

Looks like we're going back to THE FUTURE

Kelly Washington's neck created a "situation." The way Fulmer handled it created a problem. It led to a creeping cancer than ended with Fulmer's firing. Hamilton screwed up that firing and put UT into a death spiral that looks to be ending.

Question,

How does it "look to be ending?"

Is it the records set against us?
The beatdowns?
Watching other teams magically get better quicker?

I get that you want to have hope about UT turning the corner, but it just isn't true, YET.

These next two weeks, the possible bowl, and signing day will all have to go well to truly be able to feel that way.

I thoughy he was a great reciever and wasn't used enough in the SEC title game that year. That being said, I was 15 and didnt notice as much in games as i do now so I could be way off.

I think it's already ended!

It isn't hope ... I'm not voting!
I have sense enough to look around and see the things that are happening. I see an underskilled team play for 4 quarters. I see a coaching staff that is teaching the players how to win. I see a fan base that has a majority on-board again. I'm not stupid enough to expect immediate results.

I refuse to use the term "nega-vol" because I don't want to use the term "vol" with you losers. My preference is to just call you negateers! You have nothing to do with being a VOL!

The downfall started when David Cutcliffe and Rodney Garner left.
:hi:

The downfall started when Fulmer was made head coach. He was just able to get away with poor discipline in his early years because the program was loaded with talent and depth. Procedure penalties and personal fouls stemming from a lack of team discipline were the signature of Fulmer teams from the beginning. Washington just happened along when bad habits started catching up with Fulmer, but Washington became an emblem of it.

Imo...it could have started earlier. When Chris Simms screwed us on NSD. Then Fulmer started to go on the recruiting for future QBs via older siblings route. Then getting screwed. Casey and Rick to get shunned by Jimmy. Then there's the Leak Brothers.

So to bring it back on topic...if y'all think KWs dancing was funny then yall never saw the car he drove while at UT. ha!!!

I agree with the 01 Championship game being the start. When Stallworth fumbled the ball after getting the 1st down, you could tell it wasn't going to end well.

As to KW, he was a bit of a diva. However, he wasn't a team cancer like DaRick was. His antics did not tear the team apart. Should the coaches have nipped that little GameDay interview ("The Future") in the bud....probably, but it wasn't the worst thing we have ever seen around here.

How did you happen? What unfortunate chain of events took place that culminated in the abomination that is yourself?

Anyone blaming CPF needs to check their medulla oblongata. We got some good years out of the 'ol boy and a national championship. You can't be consistantly good forever. Even Saban will have some down years if he stays ay Bama (which we all know he won't).
