Kentucky down by 18 to Miami (OH)

Haha, I dare you to say that you wouldn't want Wall, Patterson, and company to be wearing Orange. It's not even December yet, bro.

Even this Kentucky fan doesn't expect to go 36-0.

Who said I wouldn't? They are excellent players, but they have to get it done on the court as a team. I realize it's early, but they have to prove they are the top 5 team they were ranked in the preseason. Right now, they are not top 25. I would not be happy if I was a UK fan after that performance. UK has a long ways to go.

I can't stand coach Cal and UK but he came into a bad situation with John Wall probably 1 and gone and Patterson obviously gone after this year. Not only is he having to rebuild this year but he's going to rebuild again next year. It's going to be a tough few years for UK before Cal can get more of his players he needs and get the ball rolling.

Obvious observations from the game.

1) Our defense is still shoddy.

2) As outSTANDING as Wall and Bledsoe are, they are overplaying their abilities a little at this point. Driving into the lane with nowhere to go. Spinning blindly without a way out. However, this is expected of freshman, no matter how talented.

3) Free throw shooting was supsect.

4) It never fails, the first 10 games of the season at Rupp, somebody from an insignificant team puts up their career game, usually from behind the arc. VMI. G-Webb. Miami. You can check it year after year, and it always happens.

5) As sloppy as the game was, (even though it shouldn't have been) it was good experience for the freshman playing a close game.

6) Were going to lose some games, UT probably being in that list. But I like this team come march, and thats not just a phony excuse for now.

True, but the thing with Coach Cal is he brings in the best year after year after year.

Absolutely. I am definitely not disputing that UK was smart in getting Cal. What I am disputing is that this year's team is a national championship contender. Cal is certainly an upgrade, and I'm sure he'll get a NC while he's there.

You were doing great until this comment. Its alright to try and make a point, but don't go off the deep end.

If you think beating Miami of Ohio at the buzzer at home is a sign of a top-25 team, then you might be a little delusional. I can tell you that if UT beat Miami in the same fashion you guys did, I and almost everyone on this board would be saying that UT was not a top 25 team.

So, any team ranked in the top 25 that struggles in only their second game, is automatically not allowed to be in the top 25? You were only up on Austin Peay by like 6 or 7 at the half. At halftime were you saying that UT was not a top 25 team? You would be selling yourself short, even if you had only won that game by 5 or 6.

Personally, I don't think were the #5 team in the nation. Probably more like 16-18 at this point in the season. But to say they are not a top 25 team, with the talent assembled, is whats delusional.

Are you freaking serious? John Wall was the consensus #1 recruit and top PG. Cousins was #2 overal prospect. Bledsoe was #3 or 4 PG in the class. The majority of these freshman were committed to MEmphis. These are HIS players he recruited to run HIS offense. They aren't leftover garbage from Billy Clyde.

Yes, I was saying we were vastly overrated, and had we had to beat APSU on a buzzer beater, I would have been absolutely saying that we don't belong in the top 25. But we won by 30.

UK won 18 games that year. Beating them wasn't anything too special. Gardner-Webb did it.

Probably wasn't too special. But I am saying that UAB is better than Miami of Ohio. And, Memphis nearly lost on the road in a game that was like the Super Bowl for UAB.

Exactly. You can't really feel sorry for the guy who has brought in this type of talent to combine with the talent already there.

They are a top 25 team because they have 4 maybe 5 NBA players on that team. Don't get me wrong, they are NO WHERE NEAR a top 5 team right now, but to say they aren't top 25 is a bit ridiculous.

They won on a buzzer beater to a team that lost by double digits to Towson. Uk sure as hell didn't look like a top 25 team out there. I don't know what you were watching.

If you think a team coached by Mike Davis is superior to one coached by Charlie Coles, you're beyond help. Remind me how many times Davis has made the NCAATournament at UAB.

What was the stupid Memphis comment about? Who cares?

Losing one game in the first 5-10 games of the season is not a qualifier for getting booted from the top 25, MUCH LESS winning a game by 2 points. A win is a win. Spin it however you wish, it doesn't matter. I'm trying to meet you on some middle ground here, but you seem to want to take everything to the extreme.

UCONN looks great trailing Colgate with 3 minutes left in the first half.

Point taken, Hat. I guess this just shows that UK and UConn are both vastly overrated. I just think if UK can't stop the guard from Miami, they are probably going to struggle alot more with Jerome Dyson.
