If UofL wins

- UK will be ahead 30-15 (series), 8-2 (titles) & 2,098-1,674 (wins).

- UofL will be ahead 1-0 (coaches doing it in restaurants).

I was a UK fan as a kid, and my 10-year-old self probably would have been saying the same thing if he existed in 2012.

No offense intended, HF, and I'm certainly not calling you anything with this. I'm just saying that reading your post allows me to see the fear that kids living in UK households have for going to school next week and encountering their UofL-raised classmates. The Cards are expected to win, so it's time for "big brother" to start sandbagging like crazy, so they can either brag louder on a win or say, "it doesn't matter, because..." on a loss.

Oh, I understand. (And those are not my words in the post) There is no doubt that our fan base is one of the best in the country at making excuses for a loss before it happens, to pad the fall by leaning on past accomplishments. It is pretty cut and dry.

However, I think UT football fans aren't too far behind us on the back stretch, evidenced by the 100+ "Vandy still sucks because they are Vandy" and "We've always owned them" threads after Vandy housed UT this year.

Any program that has experienced sustained superiority, especially against in-state rivals, are always quick to pull the trigger on throwing the past into the current argument.

Well except for the fact that UT has beaten Candy 28 out of the last 30 years. It also took UT's worst defense in the entire history of their program and arguably their worst head coach ever for Candy to win in their first blowout win over UT in over 50 years.

I'd say the numbers are much, much closer in the Ky-Louisville hoops rivalry.

You're either missing my point, or purposefully avoiding it. The numbers of either rivalry are insignificant to the statement I just made.

Good back and forth so far. Kentucky playing with Louisville step by step.

Eh, looked like Smith stepped out on the prior fastbreak. 8-0 run by Louisville. Cats need to slow the game, the pressure by Louisville is really bothering them.

No, I'm not missing the point. Fans from any team with a better head-to-head record will point to the past any time their team is beaten in the here and now. However, Louisville and Ky have both seen success on a national scale. Both have won national titles. Vandy? The only title they've ever won has been in women's bowling. They're a so called hoops school yet have had less success in that sport than UT which is a football school.

The point I'm making is Louisville has had good players, good teams, overall success and has been a national player. They have some right to talk. Vandy hasn't done jack sh*t in any sport that anyone gives a damn about. Their baseball program has been to one CWS and won a few SEC titles so I guess you could say they're pretty good in that sport since Corbin has been there. Other than that, they are average at best and are laughed at. As they should be.
