Kevin Durant on Bruce Pearl

Dont think ESPN hates UT as a whole, just our football program! Ive heard numerous ESPN guys say they love Bruce.

Vitale wouldn't piss on a burning Bruce. Same for some of the newer analysts.

Doesn't matter. We don't care what those nimrods believe. Win big games or dome big possessions and much of the grousing will go away.

Agreed. His flaws in X's and O's notwithstanding, he has people talking about UT basketball. Getting your name out there is always the first step when you're rebuilding a down program. It's just like what Kiffin is doing for UT football now.

We are 5 years into this. Can you really say that he is still in the rebuilding stage?

Too bad Kevin Durant didn't think this a few years ago...how awesome would it have been to have Kevin Durant on our team?

Were any of you guys at TBA when Pearl and Lofton took down Durant and the Longhorns almost 3 years ago in OT? What a game!

Were you in Dayton Arena when UT lost to OK St in the first round last year? What a game :censored:

What the hell was that? he just mentioned how awesome of a game that was, and it was a great game...what's wrong with mentioning that?

He's talking about how he rebuilt the program. Obviously he's not talking about how the team that is #8 in the Country is rebuilding. When Buzz was here people would have killed for a 1st round loss in the Dance you have ridiculous expectations or zero UT basketball program knowledge or short term memory loss. The guy has done a fantastic job here and you better believe if he leaves the next guy that comes in here won't be as good for the program as Bruce is. We're not UNC, UCLA, Duke, UConn or Kentucky. We're a football school that has been ranked in the top 10 in basketball the past few years. Be excited for once

Given a choice, Bruce would probably choose to go up in flames, than be put out by piss from that bald moron.

Theres no other coach in america that could do what he did with our bball program so grow up and be happy you have a top 10 coach before people like you push him away and were back to 15-15 again. And half court games are for 6-4 fat kids that shoot threes, not the athletes we have. You play with the cards your dealt, but you dont know that, you just like to stomp your feet like a spoiled child at toys r us. You may not have The best team in america, but you do have a perennial top 15 power. Grow up.

I should sig this... If only for the "top 15 power" part.

I didn't know Bruce was randomly dealt these players, that must be why he was taking a vacation during the eval period of the summer after his most hyped team ever was taken out in the first round of the NCAAs by Sean Freaking Sutton.

Yeah, 'cause his recruiting class really sucks. The typical agenda folks show up with their usual BS. Nothing positive about UT or Pearl, get it straight guys.

Hence the "?" mark.

The rest of your post is pure garbage.

So good he's going after transfers.

It's not even about that either. It's about how after his worst showing in the NCAAs with his "most tourney ready team" he shows all of us his desire to commit to getting his team over the hill by coaching his son in Israel.

Yeah, really good transfers. And, are you seriously going to dispute the fact that we had a great fall signing period? Even the hard core anti-Pearlistas won't make that argument.

We've also covered this ground before and, like I've previously said, I don't give a damn if he spent the summer in Afghanistan looking for Osama as long as he got the recruits. In case you haven't noticed, he did. So, what difference does the Israel trip mean except for the usual whiners and agenda people to complain about something?

Get ready for 1) Jew Hater, or 2) Nobody had a problem with Coach K and the Olympics.

do you look at anything objectively? Yeah Bruce did great things with what we had, but we plateaued. Some fans aren't complacent, they want to get better and better. It just comes with the territory.

My problem is not the wanting "better", it's the, one, lack of definition of what's "better" and, two, the casual disregard of what we have. Suddenly, a top ten team with 1 loss against the #4 team by 1 point is not only disgregarded, we find ways to scoff at it. "Being objective" and "realistic" is confused here (and many places) with simply just complaining and being negative. Every time someone says "I'm just being realistic", it's to preface or justify a negative observation of some sort, not actually being objective.

Sorry, I'm just not into doing that self-loathing stuff. Objectively, I'm quite happy with being a top ten team with an 8-1 record. I don't see why that's such a difficult concept for all those who want to rip Pearl and the team all the time.

Check the post again.

Check my post again.

Again, this whole BS about Israel typifies my irritation about the anti-Pearlistas. You complain about a recruiting time frame and, yet, when the results of that time frame are good, you complain about the manner in which it happened. You all complain about the part that is completely inconsequential in the whole matter. Just insane.

Really, though, I'm starting to wonder if hat just decided to go Herschel Walker and register a bunch of IDs to make these type of posts.

I'm going to give Pearl the benefit of the doubt and assume the rumors of Tennessee's pursuit of Maymon are erroneous. If not, UT is attempting to sign a guy who will make Marques Johnson, Tony Passley, and Phillip Jurick look like inspired pickups.

So based upon the talent and Coach, what are your expectations for this year (e.g., SECC, Sweet Sixteen, Great 8, etc.)?

Just because we have dominated(minus 2 games in which we struggled early against poor competition) the less talented(much less talented) teams, that shouldn't be cause for praise and declaration that our team is amazing. Why don't we just cheer them on and see how they do against the real teams? That's when we can declare the team a bust or legitimate. I tell you one thing, we cannot play like we did against Wyoming, MTSU, DePaul, etc and expect to compete for titles. Depth wore those teams down, the good teams that we will face from here on out will be able to match our depth, AT LEAST. So let's hope Bruce lights a fire under the entire team's arse. I would take 5 hard workers like Cam Tatum on the floor than hyped up "superstars".

Sweet 16. After that, the tournament is somewhat of a crapshoot based upon match ups.
