exactly. with the exception of last year... pearls UT teams are hilariously overrated by voters during the regular season.

It is not fair to just bring up the games we have lost in the final seconds when you don't mention all the close games we have won in the final minutes during Pearl's tenure at Tennessee.

The problem is that Pearl is going away from what worked in those games. Sure he had Chris Lofton, but Tyler made two great plays that beat Ole Miss and Miss St. (Mississippi Rebels vs. Tennessee Volunteers - Recap - January 09, 2008 - ESPN) in 2007. Now we are just totally lost in those situations.

Sure Tyler will throw it up every now and then, but it's a lot better than having nothing at all.

At least We got there...I remember walking out of Rupp arena after losing by 60 to UK in the SEC tournament...Even the UK fans didn't harass any of us after that...I appreciate what we have now compared to the crap We had to deal with in the past...Pearl isn't a miracle worker but he has built us back to being a strong team and one day hopefully it will get us above the sweet 16 in the tournament one day...Big difference is, With buzz peterson We were HOPING to get to the tournament, With Bruce We KNOW we are going to the tournament just wondering how far We will go...I like having that problem personally:thumbsup:

You guys are talking about close loses what about the close win on the road in Memphis to beat the number 1 team to become number 1 for the 1st time in our history. He owned the great Florida teams of a couple years back. I know what is going to be said in reply to this "what have you done for me lately?" but the guy has taken out program to a level we hadn't been at before. I agree with the fundemental problems that you guys have brought up with the last second loses and the slowed down offensive sets. I too would like to see improvement from our program but some of y'all just see the bad and over look the good. Making it to the sweet 16 is almost like making it to a BCS bowl game in my eyes. Think about it. With all of the teams in D1 college basketball to end in the top 16 is pretty good. But with that being said I would love to make it further and I think this team still needs to improve. However, I don't think our program can grab someone who is an as established coach as Pearl is right now if he were to leave. We would have to take someone from a small school again and hope they could work their way to the level we're at right now. I think Bruce has been good for the program but I don't believe he is a basketball god by any means. I just think an elite basketball coach wouldn't come to a school where he'd be over shadowed by football and possibly overshadowed by women's basketball too.

I don't give a rip what you aspire to. I can't help that your parents were too sorry to make you believe that you can better yourself. What's the old saying? you can lead a horse to water.....or something like that.

The second you know anything about basketball, let us know. Otherwise, your repertoire will be limited to silliness of this nature. maybe you and the other whiners can hold hand and pretend we have a prayer of winning big games because we're 8-1.

I just learned about basketball. It was great. I learned my team is 8-1, is ranked in the Top Ten and wears orange. It was a big moment for me!
