Kevin Stallings Called Me an Idiot!!!

I don't think there are probably many in the coaching profession that would support firing a coach with a winning record after three years. Just saying.

Having a winning record in college basketball isn't that difficult. Lots of coaches can go 16-14, 17-13 a few seasons in a row. The only thing that matters is making the dance, and eventually making a run in it.

Plus, I'd rather have the occasional under .500 year and the occasional GREAT year than just sustained mediocrity under Zo.

From a fan's perspective, I don't disagree with you really. The issue is from a coach's prospective and I don't think many coaches, especially coaches in the same league are going to endorse firing young coaches after three years.

Martin has won 19 and 20 games plus whatever he tacks on this year, but I agree, the tourney is the goal.

Just turned on t.v. & there was Stallings calling us "idiots in Knoxville". Sure he wants CCM to remain as UTK's bb coach! Still I hope the Vols mop the Summit floor with commode-doors on Saturday.l

According to reports Stallings said, 'Hopefully, the powers that be [at UT] will tune those idiots out & give (Martin) the kind of time he deserves.'

Let me interpret: Hopefully, the Booger Eater won't hire Mr. Pearl because that dude OWNS me.

Glad he did! Saved me trouble!!!!!

I think everyone needs to understand that if Martin goes Pearl will not be the one to replace him. So, who do we get?

I'm not sure what people are smoking but Pearl will not be coaching at UT. I wish he would too be it is not going to happen.

I think its weird that first we had pearl then counzo in basketball and in football we had kiffin then Dooley. And kiffin is a lot like pearl while counzo was just like Dooley. So let's hope we can our butch in basketball.

Anyone who actually watches the games instead of just looking at wins and losses knows that CM couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag. He calls timeouts kill our momentum time and time again and then doesnt call them to set up plays at the end of games. His substitution patterns are just completely random. The offense is god awful. We have two of the best post players and the league and he doesnt have a clue how to get them the ball. Most of their points come off of offensive rebounds. It took us half a season to figure out how to break a press for Christ's sake.

Following Wade Houston or Kevin O'Neil, yeah I'd agree.

Following 6 straight NCAAT bids and in the same period going as far as we ever have in the NCAAT, it's not going to cut it; at least not 3 years later.

The standards were raised for UT basketball for whoever followed Pearl.

Coaches defend each other. What else would he say? Also, I'd hire Stallings in a minute. jmo

I was disappointed when we didn't get him in 1997, because I thought he was a better choice than Green.

But now I wouldn't want him, because IMHO he's been pretty much an overall underachiever at VU. He usually does better with less, but does much less with more.

What's with the football analogies?? Folks!! Martin is ahead of Dooley doing what he does. There's no comparison. I wouldn't let Dooley coach a rec team. Jerry Jones is a moron for even having him on the staff in Dallas(if he's still there). And for some of the weaker minds out there, Kiffin has yet to do ANYTHING!!!!! I wouldn't want that dumbass back here for all the rice in China. Using your analogy, Pearl was LIGHT YEARS ahead of Kiffin. Your whole point doesn't compute. Lose it.

From a fan's perspective I understand what you are saying. I also understand that a coach is going to be more sympathetic to another coach based on other factors, experience being one, roster being another, etc...

I often here the phrase "coaching fraternity". As a whole, they don't often turn on one of their own.

As for Stallings calling UT fans idiots for wanting Martin fired, well...I think fans can certainly buy a ticket and let Coach Stallings know how they feel about his assertion. :)

Kevin Stallings looks about as funny as the gym he plays in.

But you can't blame him. I've never heard a coach say "Yeah. It's about time for that clown to go". That just don't happen.
