Key to beating Clemson

The two keys:

1. Disruptive pass rush. Cole doesn’t have much experience but is more of a threat than DJ so we need to rattle him. Good time for Baron and Young to improve their draft stock.

2. Joe getting first downs and hitting the open man.

Pass rush, pass rush, pass rush. Pressure, pressure, pressure.
I feel the same way.

Any game can be won or lost, but to lose dropping back into coverage rather than sending heat, hurts my feelings. Playing on their side of the ball makes the most sense to me.

I expect our defense will turn up the heat and it will payoff with a big win over Clemson.

I think we need to score TDs on 2/3 of our possessions. I don't think Clemson can match that efficiency with a young QB.
Clemsons QB is pretty good and can run. With our pass rush and secondary will make him look like a Heisman favorite for next year.

Yep...absolute #1 key in my mind. The secondary looks a lot better than it is when we get consistent pressure on the QB.

I also think we need to focus more on ball control in this game too...we need to run the ball effectively, as I still don't have full confidence Milton can take a game over throwing the ball.

Have to disagree, respectfully. The approach is to prepare the kids coming back next year with all the extra practice, reps, schemes and such. It's almost like the bowl game is the first game for next season. As an example, Squirrel White getting all the first team reps this week in Hyatt's place, much like he would the last week of next August. I'm excited to see some of the young guys get to play.
Except it's not next year, it's the final game of this year. All players from this year are available to play. A bowl game shouldn't be a dumbed down scrimmage for eligible players. Some guys never practiced at a #1, so really it's worse than the first game as they will have much more prep at their position for game 1 next year. Saying it's game 1 for next year is ridiculous. If that's the case then sit all the seniors.

Hell I'm all for giving players an incentive to play. Let the sponsors of the bowl game pay tremendous amounts of money to the players that make stats in the game. Bowl games are going to be really dumb after the 12 team playoff, they will really be pointless then.

As a fan, I get the mindset. We’re not winning a championship this year. But for a player or coach, talk like that is asinine. This isn’t pop warner. I would direct everyone who says this to this video:

That video is irrelevant. Those teams didn't have their most productive players opting out. If the game was important the best players would play. The reason they don't play is risk of injury and they don't gain a thing even with a mvp performance. When pro, your money is based on your production so even players on the 3-12 teams have a reason to play. Bowl games are meaningless since the playoffs. The evidence is right in front of you. Look at all the opt outs if they were projected high draft picks.

The key to this game is just like any other. It all starts on the lines of scrimmage. If we allow Clemsons front 4 to wreck shop on a consistent basis, then it’s over. If we don’t get pressure with 4 on Klubnik, then it’s gonna be a long game.

It's all up to the team, if they want a victory then it can be achieved..... sadly in today's world "victories" aren't what they used to be when it is about Group effort

Pressure QB - Blitz often/Run Blitz
Key Shipley
Hold them to 24pts or less

Offense-it’s Joe’s to take ahold of-he needs to be 60%+ and throw for over 240 yds

Squirrel 🐿️ is the X factor 100+yds needed

Run game 4.5 yds + per carry key 🔑 stat

Get our pts above 30+

I think 🤔 if we can do these key things
34-24 Vols

Joe has to connect on some deep balls. If he does we will out score them, if he doesn’t it could be a long night. Milton has all the potential in the world, it’s time for him to put the rubber to the road, and prove he is our qb going forward.
