Kiffin leaning toward California QB

The article actually says that he told his mom that he did not fit our pro-style offense but Kiffin would pass his tape around and spread word about him to coaches at schools that do run a spread offense. So it does not sound like Kiffin is recruiting him to come to UT as a QB. To me, it sounds like Kiffin is trying to make some in-roads in the area. If he gets this kid a scholarship at a good size school then it will help his reputation when he tries to recruit in Atlanta in the future.

You know... Thats realy nice, but we are not running a charity here

I bet since that USC OC going to wash really helps our chances with Barkely... But I may of had too much orange kool-aid this morning

Its not charity. Its forming a good relationship with Atlanta coaches to form a pipeline there in future classes. And, no that did not help us with Barkely. He is going to USC, without a doubt.

I just hope he lands a talented QB that if he can play better than the QB's we had this year dont try to win the game by himself but doesnt lose the game either we will be fine. To be honest it wont be hard to play better than the QB's we had this year. I just dont understand why Kiffin ran Boyd off dumbest thing he could have done. You have a 4 star recruit that can throw the ball in any formation coming into a program where there are ZERO qb's worth a crap on the team and you tell the kid he doesnt fit your type of offense. That is just STUPID!!!! i dont understand it. Coach I will support you with whatever decisions you make but man we lost out on a player. I trust you in that we will get something positive out of this. GO VOLS!!!

Barkley is a Trojan...Don't doubt that for a second.

Now, why would you want Taj Boyd to run the offense in this system? He reminds me way to much of Brett Myers at Iowa State. Quick, decent arm...nothing great. Guys like that break down under the least bit off pressure and take off b/c honestly, thats what they do best. They don't stay in the pocket and make reads and sling the ball.

Is there a better PLAYER out there for us? Maybe not. Is there a better SYSTEM QB? I think there is....CLK just has to find him.

How do you know how he handles pressure? He didn't look like he lost his composure in his video. Just because a QB is fast doesn't mean that they don't try to stay in the pocket (see Steve Young)

With the fact the Barkley is on his way to USC, are there any other QB's out there?

Yeah, you just may have never heard of them. I have faith that if there is a talent out there to fit the pro-style offense, Kiffin will find him.

Have you watched his video. I just don't understand why people are saying this stuff.

The way I see it, Kiffin is looking for certain things in a QB. Black, white, yellow or red he has certain things that he looks for in a QB that he thinks will make him successful in HIS system. I would bet that Kiffin looked at more tape of this guy than the rest of us combined and did not see the things or traits that made him confident that TB could be a successful QB in CLK's system. I am glad that we now have a coach that has enough testicular fortitude to shoot straight with these recruits and be honest with them. TB needs to go to a school with a system and a coach that can best showcase his strengths and talents. CLK felt that TB was not the right fit. End of story.

I in no way think that race had anything to do with it.

This was not the argument. People were assuming that he was strictly a run-first throw second kind of QB just because he is black. I am not arguing that race had nothing to do with Kiffin's decision, I am saying that people assume things about Boyd's skill set because of his ethnicity.

I agree, it is pure ignorance.

I hate to say it, but I agree, too. All his reports and videos point to him being a pocket QB who just happens to be an athlete. He's has good presence and good decision making. He's not a scrambler, Im tired of people using this misconception as the reason who couldn't play for us...

Having only seen a couple of clips of Boyd I think it has to be his lack of arm strength and his mechanics. Kiffin probably has an idea about what he wants to do on offense, and if he felt Boyd didn't fit then he did what was best for both he and Tajh. With that said I wish Boyd was coming, because he looks like a very good player. But when you make the decision to change coaches you have to trust the new coach to make decisions. Kiffin has made his.

I stand corrected sir!:hi:
