Kiffin to LSU (or Houston or...)

I'm not sure if Kiffen is ready to leave Saban yet. I think he went there to learn as much as he could from him. I doubt he will leave unless he has a shot at a HC gig. Of course I could be wrong and he will bolt for LSU tomorrow. But unless they throw more money at him than what he is currently making I doubt it. And I don't think LSU is giving Orgeron(sp?) a blank check for hiring his assistants.

Gave him 2 mil for Aranda.

We will know by Monday on this. Makes sense that LSU would go along with Coach O, "contingent" on him getting Kiffy. That way you improve your offense while still being able to stick to Bama. I could also see Sark following Kiffin, as well. Other scenario is a school like Nevada or an FIU taking a chance on Kiffin. But to me, OC at LSU is a much better job.

Kiffin surely wants to be a head coach again, and moving to LSU doesn't really help him in that respect. Coaching with his good friend will certainly be appealing, however. I think it depends on exactly what sort of relationship Kiffin has with Saban. Saban seems to treat him like a house boy at times, but we don't really know. How much longer is Saban going to coach? Kiffin might want to hang around redneckville in the hope of getting the bama job in, say, 3 years.

I remember thinking USC was going to be good when he and the corn dog left Knoxville. Boy was I wrong! Remember who the head coach is. Like Doyle Hargraves in sling blade getting the band together. It's fun in the beginning....then the poop hits the fan.

USC was hot garbage when they took the reigns. Orgeron in one season already surpassed his win total from his HC days at Ole Miss.
I could see a scenario where Kiffin comes to LSU they dethrone Alabama win a NC (or two) then Kiffin (after NC titles at both AL & LSU) taking a HC position

Well if TN ain't going to do it, then best of luck to LSU. I am pretty much in the anybody but Bama majority.

Hot garbage was 8-5 year one and 10-2 year two. Then it went to the crapper. Kiffin has been held in check by Saban. Put those goof balls back together and LSU will be in the toilet. Cookie Monster corn dog also went 6-0 to close SC's season after they fired Kiffin. History will repeat.

Kiffin took over Jan 2012 the Bush investigation results were revealed in June 2012 followed by NCAA sanctions and “Free Agency Gate” hence the “Hot Garbage” it was a toxic environment.
Tennessee was a beneficiary with the transfer of Moore and Jackson. Kiffin’s a polarizing individual and that early morning firing smacks of irony.
As for Orgeron, he finished 6-2 but his personna clashed with the arrogant, high powered ‘SC boosters and constituents the loss to cross town rival made the firing easy. Win that game and …
In the bayou he’s in his comfort zone plus the team, fans and state love him.

If the school lands Kiffin an argument can be made that he and Aranda are the nation’s best OC-DC tandem. With Louisiana’s in-state wealth of HS talent and the recruiting ability of all three it’s only a matter of time until they match and very likely pass Alabama in talent and as overlords of the West

Kiffin took over USC in 2010. His only year in Knoxville was 2009. They were loaded with 5* talent. Even with sanctions hitting them they reeled in top classes. They lost 15 scholarships in 3 years so depth was an issue. Not Talent.

If we had a 1, 4 and #8 recruiting class in Knoxville we would burn down the house if we didn't come close to winning a championship. Kiffin couldn't get it done at SC with his chief corn dog by his side.

I think this is total smoke screen. Everyone just taking it for granted. It doesn't make any sense. Why in the hell would he take another coordinator job? He has the best coordinator job in the country with an offensive class that will melt score boards for years to come. This is alleva running his mouth again.

Kiffen would be a perfect fit at Oregon. He's a class A ******* and he would like nothing better than to ruin USC as many times as possible.

I have to agree. I just don't see kiffy playing second fiddle to Orge.

I believe Kiff stays at bama another year or lands a HC job.

It's interesting how some schools just flat get it done.

We will all be here again this time next season...wondering why CBJ is still going to coach UT in 2018 after a sub-par 2017 season.

Thanks, good catch on the typo

He inherited (Barkely and Woods come to mind) as well as recruited talent. He also lost quite a bit of talent and depth when the 'AA hit 'SC with reduction of 30 (not 15) scholly's over three yrs, 2 yr bowl ban, and allowing players to transfer w/o sitting a yr. Analysts credited his achievements in the face of the overly harsh penalties. Though a Garret hire Haden liked and wanted to keep Kiffin but eventually bowed to the pressure of Nikias and boosters

Like him or not there's no denying his talent and ability, Saban sure didn't when he offered Kiffin and he's produced.

We've had back-to-back Top 5 (Rivals 2014 & 2015) followed by a Top 15 class and I'd say we are close to burning down the house with 2 losses ('14 & '15) to FL, two losses to VU, a loss SCe, 0-3 vs. Muschump then there is the player attrition throughout Jones' tenure.

2011 'SC lost a 2 1,000yd receivers, a 1,000yd rusher, and a 3,000yd passer and still managed to finish 7-6. Commendable

I missed a point. SC was loaded with 5* talent when Kiff took the SC job. The Vols were a mess when Botch took over. Not really a fair comparison. Yes it was 30 over 3 years. That's why Kiff snuck in a class of 30 in 2011. The SC program was head and shoulders better at the time.
