Kiffin to LSU

What has he really won of any significance?

You can say the same for Kirby or Dabo. Hell they didn't have any HC experience. They won as assistants but so did Kiffin.

What has any college coach won of significance outside of Saban, Dabo, or Ed O the last 10 years?

Ed O? One season.

Sun's gonna set this evening.

You heard it here first.

There...now we're tied for "internet cred".

Personally, I could not care less where Kiffin lands, as long as it's hard and head first.

Go Vols.
Had to reply because a like just wasn’t good enough!

He has Ole Miss in second place in the SEC West. A division many consider one of the toughest in sports.
Not this season, with both LSU and Auburn struggling. Kiffin is accorded more respect on VolNation, then he has earned thus far as a head coach.

What is Ole Miss ranked?
I would credit them with two quality wins so far, over Texas A&M and Arkansas, and a win over a mediocre Tennessee team. They also have lost to a mediocre Auburn. The SEC West is nothing special this season.

* They still play Mississippi State, though. I would consider that a quality win.

And are ranked higher than every other team in football except for 9 teams.
Like I said, who cares? Anyone can be overrated. It happens in the SEC a lot. Kentucky was #12 just 3 weeks ago. Had they done anything to deserve that? Hell no.

Lol. And you are the arbiter of rating?

So now data points with less data are more reliable than points with more data?

What has he done to deserve the LSU or UF job? He's having success this year because he has an elite QB that he didn't even recruit. I guess nothing would be more Kiffin-like than riding the success of an inherited QB to a major promotion.
He is having a Gene Chisk experience.

The polls themselves are arbitrary, and they aren't as important anymore, as you are suggesting. There is no indication that either the college football playoff selection committee, or the bowl selection committees factor them into their equations. Polls have faded into obsolescence. They are currently nothing more than fodder for fan discussion.

The college football playoff committee has all but admitted that they don’t even take the games played on the field into consideration.

Indeed. Sure if we were 10, no one would care or believe it was legitimate. Until you sanctioned it.

The guy that uses stuff like “this board gives Kiffin more respect than he deserves”. You quantify that how?

Kiffin hasn’t been anywhere long enough to get a real gage on his ability. He’s been good at Ole Miss this year due to Matt Corral outstanding play. Kiffin didn’t recruit him & has been extremely fortunate he hasn’t gotten hurt with the number to QB runs he has.

He has gotten hurt (not to the extent where he has had to miss significant time) and I think it is affecting his play.

Corral has been enormous, enormous, for them this year. I'm not sure there's another player in the country that is more valuable to his team. Ole Miss is probably a 5-5 team at this point without him instead of 8-2.

Kiffin and Miami would be the perfect fit...style and attitude..plus that league is wide open...not sure what they can pay vs SEC though

Can't say that I disagree with you.

Miami CAN pay as much as they want. How much they are willing to pay may be another question entirely.

Personally, I think the Canes are in a far worse position than the Vols we're in circa late January. They had Richt, who was in no way a world beater, but he had them at least respectable. First decent coach (and an alumni to boot) they have on the sidelines in 15 years and they run him off for Manny Diaz. You really can't make that up.

Point being, based on what I have seen the pressure is on the Miami brass for a homerun hire.

As a college football head coach, his team has lost at least 5 games in 5 of his 9 full seasons. This forum makes it seem as though Kiffin is a highly sought after head coach, which isn't grounded in reality. He went from being fired at USC to serving as the offensive coordinator at Alabama, to Florida Atlantic and then to Ole Miss. Florida Atlantic and Ole Miss? His head coaching skills do not appear to be as coveted as VN wants to believe.
