....about the current recruiting class (and beyond). The losses USC experienced has caused recruits to drop like flies. To keep this (UT) class fairly intact and/or build on it, he and the staff are going to HAVE to work some magic these next few weeks, and beat expectations....which are lower now than they were before we started losing.

You can sell only so many promises. Many will want to see SOME tangible improvement on in this team, and right now, there doesn't appear to be any, except on the defensive side of the ball.

I'm hoping against hope that Worley can have a breakout game against UGA like Crompton did a few years ago, but I'm not counting on it. Not playing one of the freshman, at all...doesn't show recruits...especially the receivers, that there is much hope for the future. So, he REALLY needs to show something there...going to HAVE to burn one of their redshirts to do that.

Lane Kiffin's firing has absolutely nothing to do with your coach. It does not send some magical symbol with deep hidden meaning.

Dude. Butch and Kiffin's situations are completely different. Kiffin had a stable program to walk into. Butch is literally rebuilding a program. I don't think Kiffin's falter has any impact or foreshadowing that Butch should even care about or worry over. Kiffin's classes still had players that are better than the majority. California's three stars are better than most states' 5 stars. Kiffin lost his job because he couldn't coach up players and he didn't recruit a QB.

He seems set on not playing the freshman. Worley will play every snap the rest of the year.

Kiffin and Butch shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. Butch is a class act who's not going anywhere.

There is no hidden meaning, but mounting losses and near misses to teams you should beat handily WILL hurt recruiting. It did to Kiffin, and it WILL hurt CBJ if this team doesn't improve even a little over the past few years.

Didn't say he was. The entire post was about the damaging effects on recruiting, continued losses have.

Most commits we have probably expected to see a decent measure of improvement this season, under Butch. If it only gets worse, then it's inevitable that a decent number will flip to other teams before NSD

Umm, Kiffin is in his 4th year at USC and was bombing in part due to severe sanctions from the NCAA and the other part due to his incompetent douchebaggery. Butch Jones is in year one of a very challenging rebuilding job. How about we give him 3+ years and then you can talk about results on the field. The goal this year should be 6-6 and make a bowl game. That would be a success for this roster. That's simply a fact. Even if we go 5-7 again I'm not gonna be hypercritical of CBJ. Everyone relax...CBJ will right the ship given time. It can't all happen this year and convincing yourself otherwise would just be delusional. GBO

He's played around 14 true freshmen this season and Peterman was a RS freshman. What's your point?

Obviously Ferguson is NOT READY and they are trying to redshirt Dobbs.

Not this class. The way things ended for them and the losses this year hurt their recruiting, without question.

They were a preseason Top 5 team, and got whipped by Georgia Tech in a bowl game, so how did those losses hurt?

They make the right hire, they start winning quicker than we will.

Maybe you can apply if Butch gets canned.

IF you had a realistic idea of where we stood coming in to this season, nothing unexpected has occurred this year. Jones will not succeed without the tools to work with and that again, "is going to take a few YEARS." The alternative is to start over and add a few more YEARS to the equation.

Mind boggling!
You're saying Butch is on the hot seat in his first season?
Or his recruits will jump ship?
If we'd just landed Gruden. We'd be undefeated!
Yep.

If our recruits were expecting us to win this year, then they aren't smart enough to meet Tennessee's academic standards.

Hey here's two things that aren't related at all but I will let you try to make sense of it. Ready? Yellow lines on the road and Walmart shopping carts. Discuss.

Butch knows he has two great Freshman QB's and wants to give them time to mature and learn the system. Butch has watched Dobbs and Ferguson in practice and IF he thought they could make a difference then one of them would be in there in a heartbeat!! Butch plays to Win.

Not saying the world is perfect, but with the AssHat's firing, it has become a little more tolerable.

Thanks to the Karma gods.
