I'm not against a pocket Qb as long as they have functional mobility.

Tee Martin-esque? I have no problem with that, but I think throw first and run as a last resort is the only run game we need from a QB.

That's more of the type I think he should go after. Because the Florida DEs are always fast and furious.

Palmer was consistently discussed by the media as a huge disappointment until his senior year - I know firsthand because I was living in L.A. at the time - when he finally blossomed and led the Trojans...to a win in the Orange Bowl. He won the Heisman...with four hundred yards more in completions than Ainge had his senior year, two more TDs, and the same number of interceptions (10), with the same completion percentage (63%). Over his college career, he threw for the incredibly lopsided triumph over Ainge, in total TDs, 72 - oh, wait, that's the exact same number Ainge threw in his college career, except he did it in ten fewer starts than Palmer, with five fewer picks. Palmer has been a better-than-average, if not great, NFL quarterback; he had one good year and got jypped of the chance to play in the Super Bowl by an exceedingly dirty play by that Steelers S.O.B. who should have been prosecuted. But the biggest difference between Palmer and Ainge, is simply that Palmer has been given a shot, and Ainge has not.

As to Leinart vs. Ainge, Leinart threw three fewer TDs his senior season - throwing to Reggie Bush, LenDale White, Dwayne Jarrett, Steve Smith, Patrick Turner, and Dominique Byrd, with Deuce Latui, Fred Matua, and Winston Justice blocking for him, and he was sacked fourteen more times than Ainge was, in that fearsome, defense-minded PAC-10 (he did manage to throw two fewer picks). Ainge threw his senior season to Josh Briscoe, Lucas Taylor, and Austin Rogers; his running backs were Arian Foster and Montario Hardesty; I think you know what he had for an offensive line. It's ludicrous to even compare the two. Give Ainge the team Leinart had his senior season and 'SC would have trounced Texas. They would've won every game by thirty points or more. Give Leinart the 2007 Vols and he's coaching high school in Texas bumming pain killers from Ryan Leaf.

In summation, Kiffin will get a pocket quarterback with a good arm and protect him with a solid O-line...

...he's not looking for a runner

It's just a matter of opinion on what you call a (Runner). Just because a QB can use his legs to avoid the rush, doesn't mean he's less of a QB. A QB's job is to manage the game, protect the ball (don't forc throws), and MOVE THE BALL FOR POSITIVE YARDS. No QB can stand there with cement shoes and play toss with the WR's.

Thanks for the lecture about how we should stand up for Erik Ainge immediately followed by trashing ten Volunteers. You can cram it. And if you're going to bring all these garbage college stats as evidence that a player will thrive in the pros, I'll expect to see you every time Arian Foster is mentioned insisting that he'll be All-Pro.

Dude, you make yourself look even more dumb by not recognizing the idiocy of your statement. It's not like Peyton is the only pro style QB to flourish in the SEC. Eli had a damn good career, Jevan Snead is doing pretty well down in Oxford, there are many examples.

So that's two No.1 picks and a potential No.1 pick. So your basically saying you have to be 1st round quality to be good right. Your the dummy. Oh and throw Jay Cutler and Matt Stafford in there.:banghead2:

You using the excuse that Peyton was an above-average QB is stupid. What difference does that make? You said a straight up pro style QB would have trouble against SEC D's. At least have the balls to face criticism of that notion. Of course a below average QB is going to perform below average. The sky is blue too, by the way.

It's downright hilarious that you discount any QB that actually had success as that is detrimental to your entire argument.

This guy is an All-Pro QB what are you talking about dude. He rarely gets sacked in the pros. You act like the USC guys would be able to destroy the good defenses that we have down here.

How do guys think USC would fare on offense in the SEC?
All things the same in terms of recruiting and talent, they would do as well as any other SEC team with a full SEC schedule. You have to take off the SEC homer glasses and look at the situation realistically. Look at the talent they put in the NFL this year. I think honestly their dominance of the Pac-10 is often their downfall, they get caught sleeping on teams that they should beat and there is obviously a huge target on their back. Every team they play is going to give them all they have and you have to bring it every game like you're playing for a title, because with USC's weak schedule, they are.

They would be tested a lot more than they are now. I know they probably would have trouble passing like they normally do. For one the defenses are a lot more physical down here. So WRs would take big hits and get disrupted at the line of scrimmage. They would make some plays but not like they do in the Pac-10.

What does that matter? Because he's good, you dismiss him because it doesn't fit your argument? Have some balls and stick with your argument, or if you are wrong, admit it and we can all move on.

Basically your argument is no pro style QB could have success against SEC defenses, unless he's a good player like Stafford, Cutler, or Peyton. So tell me about all the marginal Dual threat QB's that have had overwhelming success due to the fact that they match up better.

USC has one of the easiest situations to win with out there. Prestige: check, In-state talent: check, Coaching: check, and Lack of competition:check.

I think the USC O would do pretty good in the SEC. Like another poster mentioned they tend to fall asleep at times in the PAC 10. But look what they do against top 5 teams they destroy them. With the exception of the Texas game they have clobbered all comers. The 3 SEC teams Aubie, Arkie x2, they have played (granted havent been all that good) they clobbered didnt even break a sweat. So I wouldnt sale them short on the pac10 schedule.

What about Matt Mauck? Ring a bell.

So you think they would clobber the Florida, Georgia, and LSUs of the league? Do you remember what Ga. did to Zona St.? I would include our D but I don't know how it is going to look.
