Killer instinct...Alvin Kamara

Funny thing about "chances". When you have your chance after being drafted by the Niners and being cut it's a chance you failed. When you're then picked up by their practice squad it's a chance but then get cut from that one too it's not a good look. It's another chance when you get picked up by the Seahawks and couldn't hold on to even a practice squad spot there. He got another chance with the Chiefs but, you guessed it, couldn't hold even a practice squad spot.

And here we are, yet AGAIN, with another "chance" on the Falcons, where he hasn't exactly balled out so far. Taylor's problem isn't "chances"...it's lack of convincing evidence to multiple teams he's good enough to play in the NFL.

Those have been fake chances. He needs a real chance lol

There's more to football than stats. Myles Garrett showed elite skills in his first game that'll make him special for a long time. Trubisky just had a lucky night. Even the likes of Blake Bortles had them in his first preseason.

At DT there is more than stats. At DE, I'll disagree.

So Barnett did not show elite skills even though he vastly out played Garrett?

I think he developed into the kind of player he is and has the potential to be because of his time at Tennessee.

Eh I dont know. Kamara was one of the top RBs coming ng out of HS. He has always had the talent. And the year of JUCO just polished up an already deadly RB. He should have been the primary back from day 1 after arriving in Knoxville.

Yet there were a more than large number agonizing over Hurd transfer rumors, last offseason and an even larger contingent shouting down those who saw the positive in Kamara and Kelly getting their shots at Texas A&M. Remember a few "what have you seen in either that makes you think they can be effect a whole game?" posts. More were devoted to just how WRONGLY Hurd's "concussion" was handled against UGA. I yelled more than anybody when Hurd got downed in the backfield time after time running sideways..."get him out of there!" That was Butch's stubbornness in liquid form...but this modern wisdom that it was "obvious" Kamara was better than Hurd is revisionist fiction. No one knew this...THEN.

I get that but it seemed quite apparent to most that Kamara was the better back for Butchs style of offense. Why couldnt Butch see that? Kamara showed explosiveness and running ability that Hurd didnt have from the very beginning. I dont agree its revisionist fiction. Most on here could clearly see that Hurd was being misused. So was Kamara. Look at the type of RBs Butch has recruited since Hurd. Who do they resemble? Are they more in the Hurd or Kamara mold? They are more like Kamara.

I dispute the "to most" part. I remember you expressing that sentiment. I eventually joined you, but we weren't the MAJORITY.

I gotta admit, I still haven't watched DB's entire preseason performance against the Packers but the little bit I've seen in highlights I've liked alot.

Barnett looks in better shape than he did when he was Tennessee last year. He also showed a little more burst. I still think Garrett is much better but Barnett has definitely improved in my eyes. Instead of being just a 1-2 time pro-bowler in his career, he might now be a 4-5 time pro-bowler. Which would be an incredible career IMO.

Starting to see more and more UT players go NFL does make it much more interesting to watch. With Kamara playing in the same division as Atlanta should give us some great opportunities to see him play. As of Dobbs first game, wasn't surprised by the shaky start and loved how he settled down and made some really good throws and a nice run. On one of his sacks the right tackle never touched the DE. Totally missed assignment. Really hope all our Vols make their respected teams. GBO!

Just a follow up on what I meant by not surprised by Dobbs shaky start. First game of his pro career. I can't imagine how fast the game looks to him right now compared to college. New system to learn and man the complexity of reading pro's defenses these day's. The Giant's defense is one of the best in the league from what they were saying during the game. Go Dobbs! Go Vols!

Finally watched Barnett's first game. I must say the highlights were better than the actual performance as a whole. I saw a lot of plays where DB was just stonewalled by the offensive lineman. I also saw him get taken out of the play a lot. And there was very little in the way of disruptive plays outside of the sacks.

Garrett flashed more disruptive play in his limited time than DB. I'm thinking now that the transition to the NFL will be a little rough on DB early on. Still think he can be a quality defensive end like Charles Johnson. However, I don't see star potential. I think the lack of elite physical tools might be too much to overcome for Barnett to be elite in the NFL.

Haha. Come on, dude, u are trolling, now. I'm speechless, but I'm sure u are about to get ripped a new one, by everybody else

Wrong thread. OP, can you move this over to the 'Barnett's 1st Sack."

I can't believe you come on here at 12:11a.m., when 99% of volnation is in rem sleep for 2.5 hrs resting up for this 2017 VOLS season and write this about DB thinking it will be hidden in the Kamara thread.
