Killer instinct...Alvin Kamara

Lol i know, just messing with ya. I actually think D4H is just a very dedicated troll who's really good at it. No way anybody can possibly truly believe most of the stuff he says. He just knows how to get people stirred up. He's either really smart or really dumb.

Smart? Not so sure about that. With the exception of his racial bias, most of what he posts is just comical. You're probably right about him being a troll though. The thing I can't figure out is why people constantly quote him and argue with him..

Funny thing about "chances". When you have your chance after being drafted by the Niners and being cut it's a chance you failed. When you're then picked up by their practice squad it's a chance but then get cut from that one too it's not a good look. It's another chance when you get picked up by the Seahawks and couldn't hold on to even a practice squad spot there. He got another chance with the Chiefs but, you guessed it, couldn't hold even a practice squad spot.

And here we are, yet AGAIN, with another "chance" on the Falcons, where he hasn't exactly balled out so far. Taylor's problem isn't "chances"...it's lack of convincing evidence to multiple teams he's good enough to play in the NFL.

See James Harrison and Kurt Warner. Cut many times from teams before they became studs. One is now in the HOF and the other is still playing at 39 years old.

Not saying Kelvin Taylor will be as great as them but there is a long history of guys being cut many times before finally getting into the right situation at the right time and flourishing.

If Dobbs goes out tonite and puts up anything similar, just watch what those numbers prove about Dobbs that they somehow didn't about Trubisky.

If Dobbs look like he always does. Calm. Cool. Collected. Dynamic. Then yes those numbers will matter.

What you guys need to understand is there is more to the game than box score stats. Trubisky is fool's gold. Same with Kizer. Only rookie QB that has impressed me thus far is Watson. He looked the part of a big time NFL star. Kizer and Trubisky looked like scrubs who had lucky nights.

See Blake Bortles in 2014 as proof that even guys who turn out to be scrubs can have stellar preseason debuts.

"How in the hell was this guy not a superstar in college" is going to be a question a lot of people ask about Kamara.

Two words: Butch Jones.

Our offensive line also had something to do with it. Alvin must have been salivating at the holes he saw open up last night.

Let's see what you write, after tonite's big game.

I already declared Josh Dobbs the Michael Jordan of football. I doubt I can effuse any more praise on him after tonight.

All I'm looking for is entertainment. I wanna see him do his thing and bring joy to the viewing public.

His greatness is already foretold.

He's got two already typed up. I'm sure you can figure out the arguments set forth depending on how it goes tonight.

Yall take this a lot more seriously than I do. I'm just looking forward to watching the always entertaining Josh Dobbs perform. I doubt I'll be posting anything on here until the game is over cause I'll be glued to the screen.

I don't know about y'all but the main reason I'm such a big fan of Dobbs is because of how entertaining it is to watch him play. Enjoy the show rather than worrying about what I'll say afterwards.

Citing wild exceptions is the epitome of useless. Literally meaningless in this context. UNLESS AND UNTIL Taylor becomes one of those exceptions he absolutely, positively, empirically and demonstrably is someone who can't hang onto a roster though given multiple chances on multiple teams. Nevermind being "better than Henry" he needs to be at least as good as the worst RB in the league that actually plays for an NFL team.

You aren't right 'til you're wrong my man...you're wrong 'til you're right.

He averaged 6.2 YPC during his career at Tennessee. I agree that our offensive line was bad, which makes that number even more impressive. Great pass catcher too. Very elusive in space and difficult to bring down. He was an underused asset, pure and simple.

I don't know if it was the anchoring effect or just bad coaching/evaluation, but it was clear to anyone watching Tennessee football that Kamara was not only the clearly superior back for this offense, but the superior back period. Hurd was Butch's first real big recruiting get; that is the only explanation for why they stuck with him for as long as they did.

The fact that Kamara did not start until midway through his second season with the team, and only after Hurd quit, is coaching malpractice. I was reading stuff before the draft that quoted some NFL scouts as saying "I wonder if something is wrong with Kamara" because they couldn't figure out why he didn't play more at Tennessee.

I almost never agree with u, but this is spot on 05. A damn shame how Butch or CRG or whoever couldn't figure this out. The most criminally underused player, maybe in the history of Tennessee football.

I know it's pre-season and it's exciting to see but wouldn't it be great if Kamara ends up better than all the Bama RB's currently in the NFL? I already think Barnett will be better than Miles Garrett. Nothing against MG but DB is a beast

Damn D4H Kelvin Taylor? Just because your dad is Fred Taylor doesn't mean you're Fred Taylor. I mean I love your outlandish predictions it's great toilet reading material but Kelvin Taylor??? Come on bro I'd take a 40+ Fred and how can you possibly root for a Florida guy!? Come on man

I've already made my views regarding Barnett and Garrett's college careers well known. I've made my views regarding their NFL prospects well known. I don't feel the need to repeat myself. We'll see who is the better player ultimately.

FTR, it's only been one preseason game. Lets wait until it's midseason of their rookie year before we start declaring victory.

Hold up. You blast guys like Trubisky, who had a fantastic first game and praise guys like Garret, who did nothing in his first one?

I would love to see Kamara be better. I think he has the talent.

Garrett is a very good player with the physical attributes to be a HOFer. His physical attributes seem to be slightly better than Barnett but let's avoid that rabbit hole. The question is how bad does he want it. Physical attributes along won't get Garrett to the HOF.
Barnett has a great work ethic and wants it. He is a relentless player and doesn't know how to be anything else. It is just who he is. He would be happy with himself giving less than he has. Can the same be said for Garrett?
Time will tell. Barring injuries perhaps they both make the HOF.

I think he developed into the kind of player he is and has the potential to be because of his time at Tennessee.

1. Toughness, mental fortitude. The kind of toughness that lets you do things you shouldn't be able to do. It's not raging testosterone either. It's an internal thing. Keep your mouth shut and do your job no excuses... and love doing it.

2. High flipping motor. You don't get tired, you outwork everyone else around you, and you love doing it.

3. You have to be a football guy. You eat, sleep, breath football. It's all you do. You don't know what else to do. It's what you are, nothing will distract you from it, and you love doing it.

This is what it takes. It's either in you or it's not.

There's more to football than stats. Myles Garrett showed elite skills in his first game that'll make him special for a long time. Trubisky just had a lucky night. Even the likes of Blake Bortles had them in his first preseason.

I agree.

I mean, last season he was utilized so much he had double knee injuries and had to sit out a couple games. How many people will remember that? Lololol. Probably not many, also the same ones who selectively forget that Hurd racked up 3,127 yards from scrimmage and 26TDs in less then 2 1/2 seasons. Lololol.

Or that all of our backs were basically sharing rushing time with our QB. There are only so many carries to go around.

Everybody, including every NFL scout, knew that Barnett was already the better player coming out of college. He's a more complete defensive end (defends the run and can pass rush), more fundamentally sound at the position, had the more impressive college career.

What Derek Barnett isn't though is an absolute physical freak. Myles Garrett is. Every NFL coach, when they see incredible physical talent, will assume that they can channel every ounce of that physical talent into playing the position.
And more often than not, when they fall into that trap they are proven wrong. A tiger doesn't change its stripes. A player that didn't have heart and competitive fire in college isn't going to have it in the league either. Maybe show flashes, maybe have a good contract year.
