The still need to recruit better High School kids.. and have better communication with the top dogs. Hopefully she was on the phone with the top players in every class last night and not the assistants.

What are you talking about? At this point it looks like you throwing a bunch of crap to the wall to see if it stick.
It won’t.
They have commitments from the #11 and #56 player in the 2025 class.
About 3/4 of the players you folks been talking about in HS recruiting aren’t anywhere near as talented as Mia Pauldo or Mya Pauldo.
You don’t have a reason to concern yourself with how this staff is recruiting.

things will probably be a little different when it isnt carson newman on the other side. his team still has little talent, SEC talent, anyway. if she can start building that back up, she may have success, but this program is on the same path the football team was on for a decade. it hasnt hit rock bottom yet, but it is close, when considering what Tennessee should be in the womens basketball world. i still say the time she will need to fix it, if she is the coach to do it, will not be afforded her. it may be that what she accomplishes restocking the cupboard may be to the benefit of the coach who follows her. but we will see.
You are acting like it takes a long time to build a college basketball roster. This isn't football. One good recruiting class can carry a women's college basketball team a long way. Your comparison with football is ridiculous. You are comparing an 85 scholarship player sport to a 15 scholarship player sport. That's not apples to oranges. It's apples to watermelons.

Finally, Tennessee should have beaten undefeated South Carolina in the SEC Tournament last season. They have still never missed the NCAA Tournament. That isn't rock bottom for anyone.

Any thought to the idea style

any thought to the idea she may be cutting edge or forefront in a movement for WBB style of play? I don’t know, but she looks the part with her teams to me. It’s like she knows something about the game others are missing. Thats just me maybe. But she gives that vibe and confidence tbh. I could see it.
Exactly. This is why Danny W. hired her. The game is changing.

I don’t know where to start. Everything in your post is old. It doesn’t work that way anymore.

With the relentless running and the three-pointers flying from all angles to the fact that they both coached at small schools.

Expect Tennessee to pull off an upset or two this season.
We have to give the coaches a chance. What we saw against CN looked great, but it was CN. The Ladies made a few mistakes in their coverages that they cannot make against upgraded SEC talent. However, for the first outing, they looked very good, and they played as if they enjoyed playing in CKC’s system. There are a few players like Tess who lack the speed of several players, but the idea is to not play several slow players together at the same time. This has to be one of the best 3 shooting percentages they have had against an opponent in quite a while. The number of attempts were huge.

The announcer mentioned last night that one of the CN players had been playing almost the whole game and was tired while we were rotating a fresh five in every couple of minutes. Yes the level of competition will change but other teams will get tired like they do in football leading to more opportunities....This should be fun to watch.

Obviously the talent difference caused the lopsided score. But I thought there were some concerning signs when we ran the full court 2-2-1. The back end was wide open at times because we failed to rotate. Against SEC competition, they’ll get picked apart. Looked a little better in the 1-2-2.

Maybe it was just experimental and they won’t run that in games that matter. Or maybe she wanted it on film so she can coach the deficiencies out of them. But that press has some big holes in it that CN just didn’t have the ability to exploit like an SEC team can.

... and the thing about it, is even if the assessment of Tennessee's talent level was accurate .... fortunes can change very quickly in college basketball, especially so now, with the portal and how rules restricting transfers have gone away.

I think Coach addressed that. It’s called learning.

Agreed. I think this is my only critique of the game. I was wanting CKC to burn a timeout when they broke it twice in a row.

Hope that gets addressed. I’m sure it will.

Coming to this forum with one of the most simple minded remarks I have seen in awhile shows how envious and jealous hearted a person can be of others for absolutely no reason. You are not only wrong but this is unnecessary. Not a single person including you can factually justify this opinion.
Every single LV fan, opposing fans, coaches, sportswriters etc. on social media last night that I’ve saw stated the complete opposite about the talent on this years team.
Even before the two games played where they have scored a combined 231 points including against an ACC opponent ranked #15 in the nation this team came in preseason ranked #7 in the SEC a 16 team league.
If they continue on this trajectory they will end up Top 3-4, to say they don’t SEC talent with three McD All-Americans and several Top 50 recruits on the roster is just bizarre.
I love this comment! For some of these “morons”, you damned if you do, damned if you don’t! It’s obvious that this team is responding to their coach way different and in a positive upside way than years prior! Even Stevie Wonder can see that!! Let’s talk about only “9 turnovers” with a new group, playing a new system, and a new pace! I’m excited for what’s to come even through the good games and bad games, this team will play hard!

You may know some things I don't, but based on what I saw last night, there is talent. Several girls look capable of scoring, and I can already see that they shoot with confidence. My biggest concern is going up against a big, physical team, we may be overmatched there.
