Honestly, that kind of sarcastic joke is how damaging rumors can get started!!! One or two people aren't familiar with the "blue font" rule and the next thing you know there are people out there spewing nonsense as fact.

PLEASE, for the love of God, PLEASE try to remember how quickly we can inadvertently start trouble for our new young coach and her program by making even joking statements. 😥

Something like a pinned thread outlining general expectations for newcomers may be helpful. Most of the other VolNation forums have them.

things will probably be a little different when it isnt carson newman on the other side. this team still has little talent, SEC talent, anyway. if she can start building that back up, she may have success, but this program is on the same path the football team was on for a decade. it hasnt hit rock bottom yet, but it is close, when considering what Tennessee should be in the womens basketball world. i still say the time she will need to fix it, if she is the coach to do it, will not be afforded her. it may be that what she accomplishes restocking the cupboard may be to the benefit of the coach who follows her. but we will see
I respectfully disagree with your statement that this team still has little talent. I thought, after watching the game last night, that we have some very good talent on the roster-Cooper, Whitehorn, Spearman, Spear, Latham-they all are talented. Yes, some of the others aren't as talented as them, but even the holdovers from last year's team seemed quicker and better at defense. I just don't see where you thought they had little talent. These girls will learn to play together more and more as the season goes along, and at the pace they are playing I feel they will get even better. No, we didn't feed inside like we have in the past, but the style of play doesn't really lend itself to that. I think post play will be something we'll see as the season progresses, but maybe that's why you think there is little talent. Otherwise, I felt there was a lot of talent on that floor last night.

Bruce in his 1st year took a UT team ranked near the bottom of the SEC and fashioned them into a 2 seed in the NCAAT.

I don't mind the comparison.
I get that part. But it’s not enough in my book to compare her to him. Why not compare her to Pat back in the day when she took a pretty rotten LV team and quickly built them into the dynasty they were and will be again?

I was looking forward to seeing her style of play in action. This is like the triple option on football with a defense that blitzes on every play. An opponents normal week of practice will not be enough to cover it. They will only have a few days to ready their teams to face it, which is an advantage for the Lady Vols. The opposing teams will have to play their bench more possibly exposing weakness. Chucking all those 3's creates a lot of long rebounds which eliminates a big parking under the basket and getting 15 rebounds. They will be used to the chaos on offense and defense and hopefully thrive in it. The idea is great hopefully they have the nuts and bolts to make it work.

Except that I’d be willing to bet most people never read those “forum guidelines” threads.

So what we have are hundreds of sports fans dropping by this board regularly, and many, even though they don’t post here, may go post/tweet things they’ve read here on other forums, blogs and social media. The juicier the rumor, the better.

The safer thing would be to not make extreme inflammatory statements about the program as a joke that you assume everyone reading it will understand as a joke.

Hyams reporting that the NCAA is investigating Caldwell for recruiting violations
as they said,,,blue font is used to be sarcastic
The still need to recruit better High School kids.. and have better communication with the top dogs. Hopefully she was on the phone with the top players in every class last night and not the assistants.
I know that this is being addressed by the staff,,,nuff said
I love this comment! For some of these “morons”, you damned if you do, damned if you don’t! It’s obvious that this team is responding to their coach way different and in a positive upside way than years prior! Even Stevie Wonder can see that!! Let’s talk about only “9 turnovers” with a new group, playing a new system, and a new pace! I’m excited for what’s to come even through the good games and bad games, this team will play hard!
Around here, those morons are called "Negavols" I keep a running tab

I would advise you to not give up your day job. PROBABLY not going to top the ESTABLISHED front runners in her first year, but the rest of those traditionally structured teams will have minute heavy starters gasping for air having to deal with NEAR platoon basketball. Those teams with subs without superior quicks will pay a price. Hate our injuries have already limited our flexibility, but we still have more than JUST two deep to keep the athleticism playing in hyper mode on both ends.

Hope so. We were playing Carson Newman though.
