Kim Caldwell (Rookie Coach of the Year-WBCA) is named Head Coach of Iconic Lady Vols WBB

You said you stated evidence several times that UT has been told no several times . You have hearsay, as you rightly acknowledge. It’s nothing but speculation. I don’t want to know who has told you this. It’s some person who is gullible that believes junk they are told. You have no proof we’ve been rejected several times yet you’ve acknowledged it here, often, lamenting that UT wouldn’t get a proven coach now.
And you believe OJ didn’t do it because there’s no video evidence 😉

You’re struggling. . DNA evidence seems like evidence. You have zero evidence to back up your claims. That’s fine, so just don’t come on here acting like your hearsay is fact. You’ve admitted you don’t have evidence that many people turned the job down, so stop presenting it as fact so you can rue to firing of Harper.

You’re comparing you hearing something about a coaching search with a murder trial in which tons of physical evidence was presented. You’re horrible at this.

I don’t either. I’m not advocating for anyone but dismissing people based on this is irrational. Danny Hurley went from a high school coach to UConn in 8 years. That’s worked out ok.

If someone can coach they’ll get it done. If they can’t it doesn’t matter how long they’ve been a high level D1 coach.
Hurley didn't make an NCAA tournament until his 7th season of being a head coach at this level.

Why is there all this back-and-forth over whether we were told 'no' by coaches--and by how many? If White cast a wide net--as he most definitely
should have--and approached, say, 12 agents, then of course some, if not a majority will decline the overture for all sorts of reasons---happy with their current situation, not interested in moving, kids in school, don't need the added pressure, can't find good dentist in Knoxville. 'No's' come with every coaching search unless there is mutual interest between the school and a very select number of candidates from the start. There's no shame in being told 'no thanks'...unless you get that response from every prospect on your list.

Ummm... proven records?

Carla Berube has a 100-17 record at Princeton over the last 4 years for an 86% win percentage. She's 44-2 in league play for a 96% win percentage. Add in her D3 experience (since that matters to a lot on this board) and she's 484-113 as a coach (81%).

Lisa Fortier is 265–63 (.808) as a head coach and 154–22 (.875) in league play. She's beaten more top 5 teams in her career than Kellie did at TN.

You're going to tell me you take Marshall's coach over either of those?
Fortier has been at Gonzaga for 17 years and 10 years as a head coach, why hasn't she gotten a better job yet?

If she is the hire, then I hope he has all the checkbooks open. Let’s be real, just like allllllll the people from the football recruiting forum who suddenly now have an opinion about the Lady Vols coaching search have said, what happens with the Lady Vols will have no bearing on how he is looked at if Heupel continues to do well.
I think Danny White cares a lot more about all his hires doing well. It’s not enough for some to do one part of their job well and just get by. Fairly sure he wants all programs to be successful not just football. Jmo though.

So it’s a thing called an analogy. Sometimes people use them when making like comparisons on unrelated topics. Crazy, I know.

Interesting that someone who believes OJ didn’t do it is questioning anyone’s credibility. You’re horrible at this.

Otherwise Kelly would still be HC. He wants more than wins enough.

I love that the galaxy brain diehards are telling us that the Lady Vols are gonna have to settle for—and be excited about—someone with one year of D1 experience while Kentucky was able to poach Virginia Tech’s coach.

Seriously, do you all read the words you type? You are so pressed that Kellie got fired that you’re willing to dog Danny and the program to convince everyone else we can’t possibly do better than freaking Kentucky?

I honestly think that’s been the most disheartening part of this whole process. The people who would ostensibly call themselves the most hardcore Lady Vol fans are the ones who are the most negative about the program and our athletic department as a whole. I feel like their insularity hasn’t served them well in the aftermath of Kellie’s dismissal.

Can we take a break to make fun of Alabama? Like I don't want to be too mean, but the Alabama fans they keep showing on t.v. look exactly like how you'd envision an Alabama fan in your head. :p

You don't speak often (from your stats) but man when you do, it's deep. ☝️ 👏

I heard one of the bigger donors gave up their courtside seats and withdrew their donation promise. I do not know how true that is to be but came from someone in the know ....

Now other donors may step up but it'll be interesting ...

I fully think Danny will work harder to make sure this coach/ his hire has a huge NIL to ensure success. He can't look like he totally dropped the ball with this program.
Yes, this is true.

Who said OJ didn’t do it? You’re just a flat out liar, huh?

It’s a horrible analogy. I asked for evidence. You have none. Then you tried a “gotcha” by bringing up OJ and video evidence. Yet you forgot that there was evidence and we didn’t come to a conclusion based on someone’s buddy sharing it then posting it.

People that don’t value truth are not to be trusted.

Based on what?

Fortier went undefeated this past season in the Big West Conference and was named the national mid-major coach of the year.
In her 10 seasons at Gonzaga her conference win percentage is 88 percent (154--22). That is great. She'd be a great hire--but of course she might be happy where sheis. The Zaga men's coach has been highly sought by P5 programs for years and has opted to stay in Spokane.

Berube is something like 42--4 in the Ivy League in four years. That, again, is exceptional, quite obviously.

Otherwise Kelly would still be HC. He wants more than wins enough.
Yep. That’s the hilarious thing you’ve got a lot of people stomping up and down. Some saying white will settle for mediocrity; he had that in Harper. It would’ve been simple for him to give her another year. He thought it was better for the program to part ways though.

I don’t think Caldwell be hired. I don’t think Danny will go in that direction as this is the most storied program on campus and he does want ALL programs to succeed. I don’t see him hiring an unproven coach to lead the Lady Vols.

That being said, we aren’t in the upper echelon of jobs in the country anymore. Lots of coaches will not want to put up with the toxicity of this fanbase. When things are good, the fanbase is loyal. When it’s not, they are vicious.

Kara was not contacted, and neither was Walz. That shows he knows who he wants. Also one reporter indicated she interviewed in Knoxville. That would be very surprising considering none of Danny’s other hires have interviewed on campus. With so many eyes on this search, I don’t think he would switch things up now.

Look for an announcement on Monday.

I just think it's dumb to say someone is gonna succeed or fail before it happens.

That's never been my argument, Johnny. My argument is you don't hire someone who might succeed, when there are options available (at the same mid-major level) that statistically would be better hires. There's a saying I use when hiring people, "Prior success is the best indicator of future success." If I have a 10 year sample size (Fortier) and a 4 year sample size (Berube), that's SIGNIFICANTLY more data on the side of success than one year.
