Kim Caldwell (Rookie Coach of the Year-WBCA) is named Head Coach of Iconic Lady Vols WBB

Anyone checked on Kellie? Lost three games in as many weeks to the eventual notational champion, the last one by a point then, then got fired, then got replaced by a coach with 1 year of division I head coaching experience.

She’s a graceful lady, but that’s a lot for anyone.
What will definitely be a lot to ask of Kellie -- A WHOLE LOT -- is for her to remain a gracious and loyal LVFL. After some time away, it seems like Holly has been able to rise above the disappointment and pain and is still supportive of the Lady Vols. Kellie is a good woman and loves the Tennessee Lady Vols with all her heart, so I hope she'll be able to remain proud to be a LVFL.

She needs lots of support from family and friends (and fans) right now, so I'm pulling for her to be able to bounce back quickly. 🧡

I guess the thing that everyone remembers in her latter years was UConn so dominated her teams on the floor that we quit playing them.

First off, I bet you don't even know the reason Pat "quit playing them," because anyone who paid attention knows that story front and back.

And second, anyone who actually paid attention would remember that Pat won her last three games against UConn, including two in Hartford. But by all means, don't let any of that stop you.

Alright KIM, clock is ticking. Why haven’t we landed a transfer yet? ⏱️⏱👀👀

(Kidding, kidding, kidding)

Did you see the rumor??? Caitlyn Clark coming back for her 5th year and signing with the lady Vols. Her mother went to Grenville state community college where our new coach won a natty.

You’ll have to ask them. Multiple posters were saying they hoped the LV Program failed if Kim was the hire.

This is an Internet discussion board. As such, I would think that questioning and discussing the events of the day is to be expected.

Skepticism and disappointment regarding an appointment is not the same as wishing it to fail.

As someone with no horse in the race, the elevation of Kim Caldwell appears to be a real reach with huge risk. It could well pay off, but she will be under immense pressure and scrutiny from the beginning, the likes of which, I suspect she has not faced before. She has extremely limited experience at the Division I level and none at the Power 5 level. By her own admission, recruiting is not a strength for her. And now she will be expected to improve upon her fired predecessor's record.

She will also need to hit the job running, both in order to minimize potential defections as well as to strengthen via the portal. Convincing players who have little idea who you are and are possibly being wooed by other programs without being in an established situation seems extremely difficult to me. She may certainly succeed, but there are a lot of ifs and a high level of uncertainty both for Caldwell and the program. Not something that one would expect when trying to turn a program around after more than a decade of perceived underperformance.

Again, not even Staley did that, not happening.

She had more talent as well than we currently do.
But she did not have the current day portal.
Not saying she will, but IF IF IF DW has some big money NIL funders in her camp it is an easier road than Staley had. Our FB, baseball, softball men’s BB have done well in the portal.

The early limiting factor will be how many positions open up with portal exits when I don’t THINK, DW will buy a Deion purge strategy.

You're too good of a poster to be so negative. This could end up being a great hire. I get it, but dang give the lady a chance.

Upside is a lot of posters who are here now won’t be in game and post game threads!

That’s a great thing!

Lol, oh, oh no, no no no.. They're going to hang around and complain about everything -- which is funny, because some of them have spent the last few years complaining about other people who just hung around and complained about everything. They're going to become the very thing many of them claimed to detest for so long. That's pretty funny, when you think about it.

The truly funniest thing will be if Tennessee has success, though. You'll see some of them suddenly act all happy again, try to sneak in the side door, as if nothing ever happened. Kind of like that scene from Inglorious Basterds. "I bet when you get to your nice house on Nantucket island, you're gonna take off that handsome uniform, ain'tcha?"

That I didn’t write ✍️ 🤭
Is that the best defense you can muster?

Already established you didn’t pen the opinion.

You certainly co-signed it though. And have repeatedly refused to denounce it.

I’ll ask again - Do you still ascribe to the hope that the LV’s fail now that Kim is the coach?
