Kim Caldwell (Rookie Coach of the Year-WBCA) is named Head Coach of Iconic Lady Vols WBB

Becky ain’t coming here y’all. Pro coaches rarely leave for college because of the recruiting grind.

She’s on top of the world in the W right now. She won’t leave a dynasty for us.
Don't be so sure. People do the unimaginable for $$$. Would you rather recruit (which you could delegate the grunt work for anyway) sitting from a plush chartered flight and receive national TV coverage for a million dollar raise, or continue to fly coach in the W for half the salary.

Becky Hammon is the highest paid coach in the WNBA at 1 million a year, but even then she’d be outside the top 10 in college.

We could definitely increase her pay and she’d be in a bigger spotlight here.

Define struggle…..Which fundamentals does CDS’s team struggle with? Rebounding? Shooting? Assists? Turnovers? Defense? I’ll give you FT shooting, outside of that her team’s fundamentals are all mostly in top 10% of the nation.
Well I believe both Men and Women struggle with fundamentals due to Travel Ball but my point is you can beat your opponents with Elite Talent which to Dawn's credit she understands.

You’re probably right, but we can outspend ANY WNBA team. Make her say no to $3M before moving on to other options.

Has the Florida Gulf Coast head coach Karl Smesko been talked about? I don't even know anything about the guy, and it's AZ sports write up so...

Smesko, a former walk-on at Kent State, has been the head coach at Florida Gulf Coast since 2002, the first year of the women's basketball program's existence. He's gone 611-110 during his time at Florida Gulf Coast and he's reached the NCAA Tournament in seven straight seasons. Smesko also hasn't lost more than five games in a season since 2016-17.

He's known as a innovative coach who is always looking for fresh ideas to implement.

Good point about a larger stage. I’m pretty sure the Lady Vols are on TV more often than WNBA games (or I don’t know where to find them), and the women’s Final Four is a much larger event than the WNBA championship. Plus, our stadium seats nearly double their home court.

Not what you said. You said Staley’s team struggles with fundamentals but overwhelm opponents with talent. That was your post. And yet her team ranks first in defense, second in offense, first in 3pt%, top 5 in 2pt%, top 5 rebounding, top 10 assist-turnover ratio…..we can go on. Fundamentally her team does not struggle as you said.

Miami’s reported top candidate.

I'm not lobbying for any particular coach, but we probably have no idea what it might be like for a WNBA head coach to deal with egos, personality conflicts, etc. at that level. For some coaches, in certain seasons of life, it might even be worth a cut in pay to again be able to mold and develop players who are receptive.

Ya never know (...but I'll bet Danny does!).

Not everything is about money.., she has ZERO pressure at USC. Y risk that. She has a young family. Y move…

Well for starters she’s about to play a Big10 schedule from Southern California, so she might not see much of that young family staying at USC. She’ll be living in airports for half the year coaching and recruiting.

This was also part of my tinfoil hat, conspiracy theory pitch today. The stage is arguably larger for college bb, and you don’t have all the egos of the pros. Plus the facilities are nice, you don’t have to play in a casino, cost of living here is far lower. Obviously, stars have to align with what the coach wants, but there is a world somewhere in which this is plausible.
