Kim Caldwell (Rookie Coach of the Year-WBCA) is named Head Coach of Iconic Lady Vols WBB

It's transparent when people like you start sh-t and then -- when they are called out for it and their nerve is hammered -- respond like you just did: dodging the facts of the matter and preening. Thanks. You're missing out on the kum ba ya moment, btw. But just as well.
She once posted evidence of how refs are cheating for UConn because her eagle eye noticed that the shot clock went from 1 sec to 20 sec after UConn was fouled, and now they had more time to score. Not fair!!!!

That should tell you exactly what you’re dealing with.

Where is Coach Jumper?
Probably preparing to assure us that he knows from personal experience that adolescent prospects read this board, so you better not pout, you better not cry… 😎

Sometimes, avoiding these circular arguments is a sign of mental health. I hope he is pursuing more useful interests.

I see your point and I’m not going to bash Summit by any means, nor is this rebuttal intended to be a slap at Summit. But you have to admit comparing women’s basketball then to what it is now is like comparing apples to oranges. Anyone at the point was an up and comer.
so it does work
And besides, you’re actually proving my point. She built it into the juggernaut it was and can still be, but what’s happened since she left? Two coaches, one with zero HC experience and the other was a debatable resume of HC experience. Both fired for not having the success that’s expected of the LV program. You think a “rising star”, as that Twitter guy posted, is better than or on the same level as these previous two in terms of ability?
Could be but that is not a given. Outstanding coaches have to start somewhere and the two previous attempts failed. One had no previous head coaching ability and the other had some success at a ACC school. I would not want that to happen unless all else fails, South Carolina hired a "rising star" and she did pretty good. When one hires a new coach, it does not insure championship teams although Mulkey did it at LSU. I believe White will make a great are , but we will not know the results for 2-3 years from now.

Indya Kincannon, late to the party.
She's great and it is kind of strange that progressive women do well in local politics around here. But wonderful. An oasis of sanity. And gives me as a Tennessee voter a chance to vote for someone who actually has a chance to win for a change.
i would be absolutely shocked if a person with DW's stated vision for UT athletics to be at the top of every sport would fire a LV legend only to replace her with a "meh" coach. i imagine they already know who the coach will be and had a really good idea before they fired her...especially considering harper was still competing with the best teams just not closing the deal.
Exactly. While "home run hire" "swinging for the fences" etc came from fans, not the AD, the very act of removing Kellie implies alot. When you replace a coach who was finishing in the top tier of the conf every year the implication is clear. The "everything school" implies alot as well. Back the brinks truck up for Dawn Staley is silly, but IMO so is a lateral hire. In the age of the transfer portal and NIL things move much faster now so I'll be very disappointed with another "maybe she can" hire who needs 2 or 3 yrs to start showing improvement. What would be the point?

I also think DW must have had the next hire in mind and hopefully is closing. If we get the "meh" hire, I believe it's bc no bigger hires turned out to be gettable.

Good point.

All these howling for the "elite" coach would have screamed like teething banshees if Staley had been hired based upon her Temple resume. Now they're wanting to throw the account numbers of the Federal Reserve to her.
For sure sometimes those hires work out. But IMO, this program can't afford another one of those right now. We've wasted way too much time already, and the WBB world is moving so fast these days.

Brenda Frese
I was talking it through with one of my friends last night. The word is he is going to make Dawn say no first. After that, it's likely Gottlieb.

I feel like Brenda is one that is showing an interest. If that's the case, it would be a tremendous hire. You're bringing a coach that has been winning at an elite level and bringing her into a environment built for more success. We would be back as a Top 5 program.

Gottlieb is my number 1 want followed by Brenda.

I believe their athletes, if needed, take classes from Peabody.
Peabody is a great school, even if the name sounds funny. Has been a top notch school for teacher education forever.

Does your friend have inside knowledge? Is that where "the word" came from. BC I'm pretty sure the actual AD has a clamp down on info.

Also, Brenda Frese has not won on an elite level in a minute and her career trajectory is approximately that of Kellie. And she doesn't even have the nice lady image of Kellie. And has a high transfer out rate. And has been on the LV no no list for years since charges of tampering w LV players. IMO that would be an extremely disappointing hire and fall in the category of why bother.

I see. Well, politics aside, she's doing a good job, and all that matters for purposes here, to the best of my knowledge, she has a great relationship with UT and Randy Boyd.
I hope White has a free hand at hiring the new coach. If he seeks help, that should be up to him.

Uh, what? She’s 99-33 the last 4 seasons that’s a 75% win percentage, which is her career win percentage. Again, LOL what.

She loses to the portal, but guess what? SHE. STILL. WINS. Last season she went 28-7, that’s damn good for someone that losses a lot to the portal.

This season is the only “down” season she had.

“Hasn’t won in a minute” by a minute you mean 28-7 last season. Just hilarious

Missing context was USC was a bottom feeder, they had nothing to lose. Not all comparisons are equal.

Amen and Amen
I dont care what sport you are talking about, it takes years to see if the hire was good! And good for what? Unfortunately today it has nothing to do with development of players, the schools or anything else but winning!
You can put up all the stats, past records, doesnt mean crap. The next Coach better be tuff and able to rebuild the program, players whilde putting up with the Mafia and the Knoxnewsless.
If UT would have hired Staley they Orange Tinted group would have gone full tilt bozo!!

I will defend @glv98 on this one. Frese is a hard no for me, she's not been to a Final Four since 2015, no natty since 2006 and despite her "nice" record over the last couple of years, the issues within the Maryland program raise some red flags. I will pass all day on this one. Would I have taken her before Kellie, yes, but not now.

I’ve been following UT sports for decades and only remember two “splash” hires. Household names that made you think “wow” for better or worse. Lane Kiffin and Rick Barnes. One backfired the other has been tremendous. Lots of “meh” hires that failed and a few that hit. Vitello, Heupel, Pearl succeeded beyond “meh” status. Several ways this search could end but it may not send shockwaves across the sport. Make no mistake though, this is a huge hire for Danny White. Probably the biggest of his career thus far. He needs to “stick the landing”.
