Kim Caldwell (Rookie Coach of the Year-WBCA) is named Head Coach of Iconic Lady Vols WBB

Take it with a grain of salt, but here's what I've heard from solid sources. DW is keeping things VERY close to the chest, so none of this will be groundbreaking information.

Kara is not happening and never was. Jennie Baranczyk has at least been contacted as has Lindsay Gottlieb although I don't know that interest is there for Lindsay with the class she has coming in. Wes Moore has been contacted although I don't know that the interest is there because he is very close with the Harpers, also his age is a factor. Brenda Frese is in contention, but will her baggage proceed her. Jeff Walz is in contention, but he has some of the same baggage as Brenda. I've heard nothing on Becky Hammon. This leads me to believe that the interest isn't there or she isn't too keen on recruiting.

I know that a LOT of interest has been there, but most of the interest is from successful mid major coaches or coaches coming off hot seasons that don't coach for a Power 5 school.

I expect early next week will the absolute latest we hear something.
Yikes

No revenue wise LVs are ahead… I’d say we are still 3rd.

They still haven’t won anything
State of the two programs it’s softball

Two sellouts upcoming and and Top 5 program. Leadership and winning. Last year they won the regular season championship and the SEC tournament championship. Pretty sure that equates for winning something.

Good for him and good for them. The fact they had to explain his outburst says alot. And the tape of his grumpy old man rant against NIL is still going to play on an endless loop everytime he's recruited against. And stopped at 8:15. Not a good look
I don’t want him as the coach here don’t get it confused, the point of the video is to show that people’s reaction to things on social media and how players really react are different, players may not think something is a big deal but social media will run with it like it is.

True but it tells us how he feels about the modern landscape and also will be big time used against him in recruiting.

Record wise, and bringing players with, he's probably about the best we could realistically hope for. But flawed.

There are two schools of thought here: one, where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Two, the names not mentioned are the ones involved in serious discussions. In DW’s case, I believe the latter. He keeps things under wraps moreso than any other AD in the country.

Sorry this is a pathetic take… u think Dawn or Geno wouldn’t know exactly who they want in staff and do u think they would let an AD make that decision for them 😭

This is your typical response. And sadly you believe this and say it out loud. They said the new coach is identifying their assistants. What are you talking about? What AD is making the decision? How are you comprehending that means a coach who is not established? Actually it’s the complete opposite. The coach is getting contracts for their assistant coaches. I would also add that bringing up coaches like Dawn and Geno that on a year to year basis may lose an assistant coach to other jobs almost routinely adds to their staff so that contradicts what you said also because all head coaches work with an AD to fill their coaching staff. Everyone has to apply for a job no matter if the head coach ALREADY knows who they want. Try to go beyond being sarcastic and have an authentic conversation.

Well 3k isn’t really a sellout like NC State but no I love what they are doing for sure just historically and care are for 🏀

But love that team

2200 with an added SRO. Seems demand is up before you try spin it. Get your money up while getting your tickets
No need to spin anything. 2 sellouts is 4400 total attendance which is half an average LV bball game crowd. Just for perspective and context.

And I love how well softball is doing, direction is definitely up.

No no no that’s 2200+ x 6

They play 3 game series not two games. Might want to check in and familiarize yourself with the ones supporting the same brand everyone cares so much about.

I'm just going to say this since not many people have. I have absolutely NO IDEA (literally none) who the next coach is and I'm going to be surprised regardless. I will say, keeping up with this thread has at least reinvigorated my interest in Lady Vol basketball, something that was slipping away over the past couple of years.

I’ve tried to keep up with all 97 pages of this thread (to the detriment of my productivity), and maybe I’ve missed it, but I’m surprised to not have seen Mark Campbell mentioned. I know he’s just had one season at TCU, but Oregon has dropped off a cliff since he left as an assistant to Graves, he had success quickly turning things around at Sacramento State, and had things looking pretty good at TCU this year integrating a bunch of transfers before injuries to their 3 best players.

Thought you meant 2 games, not 2 series. That's great hope the weather is good

College softball and women's basketball popularity and attendance is growing so fast particularly softball in recent years. 2200 is great attendance for most top programs as the stadiums are so much smaller. Bama has been leading in softball attendance for years now because they had the largest capacity stadium at around 3500-3800 (not sure of exact numbers), but Oklahoma's new stadium just opened this season eclipses that with over 4000 seats plus SRO. They are completely sold out for the year too, so they will now lead in attendance. Love seeing it for the sport, and I love seeing it in women's basketball now too!
