He’s a little like Jon in that his resume is her resume basically. I do think he’s a better coach though. I go to their games in person a few times a season and you cannot tell they are husband and wife when coaching unlike the Harper’s.

Walz definitely has the kind of recent record of getting deep in tourney we need. But when I say it seems his best days are behind, it's more his attitude. He seems like one of those older coaches who hate NIL, etc. That rant he went on recently was pure Saban, an old man shaking his fist. He was brutal with his players basically calling them money grubbing, non caring punks.

Walz was already known as a recruiter who could get them, but not keep them. With that clip playing on an endless loop to recruits, not sure he'll even be able to get them any more. And not sure he even wants to.

If they identified coaches that likely means they have worked with multiple assistants over the years which all might not be in their current staff or connected with some coaches that are interested in coming to Tennessee with them. It means they could have wanted to have a fresh start with a new staff not their current staff. Everything does not have to always be a setback you know.

If our tradition and the legacy of Pat Summitt and her role in the growth of women's athletics is not an asset when it comes to recruiting, and getting players just comes down to out-bribing other programs for prospects, and if prospects are just interested in the cash, then the emerging state of college athletics is truly deplorable. And, yea, to a large degree it seems to have got this way. It's seedy--not what college is supposed to be about. All NIL will do is drive up the market for lots of players who are not worth the money--fact.

It is, in fact, truly deplorable. I've said numerous times that if sports were as they are now back in my childhood (the 60s), I never would have become a fan. For more reasons than what you're talking about here, but certainly including what you're talking about here.

The response about the volleyball couple being recently extended was to a poster who said DW didn't like married couple coaches and that might eliminate a certain coaching prospect.

1 more year was going to be a disaster for the program.

If you’re even thinking “one more year” that means it’s time anyway.

From the looks of things she was about to bulk her roster with Kentucky transfers and probably have about 15 losses next season.

Everyone gives Kellie credit for 4 WNBA draft picks but she only recruited one of those players. And really I think Horston and her mom basically recruited Rickea to Rocky Top. If anything those 4 players were carrying Kellie and inflating the actual results she is capable of.
