Yeah, I think you’re right. I’m both afraid and curious to see what NIL does to college athletics that spoils it for everyone, including the players. You know some will unionize, as they should have the right to, and strike, bargain contracts, etc.If our tradition and the legacy of Pat Summitt and her role in the growth of women's athletics is not an asset when it comes to recruiting, and getting players just comes down to out-bribing other programs for prospects, and if prospects are just interested in the cash, then the emerging state of college athletics is truly deplorable. And, yea, to a large degree it seems to have got this way. It's seedy--not what college is supposed to be about. All NIL will do is drive up the market for lots of players who are not worth the money--fact.
That was a very strange hiring process and looks different from anything typical of DW. There had to be a lot going on behind the scenes in that situation.I would step back from this judgement. It was a “hold it together for now” hire. If kids are coming to play for coaches and the head coach leaves, it’s do the least amount of damage until we get the best person.
Ok, you disagree. I don't take offense to that. But you have a screw loose if you don't think this hire is going to have significant impact on DW's perception as AD. Football is king, men's basketball is #2, it's debatable whether LV basketball is behind baseball. In recent years, yes. Women's basketball is far bigger nationally in exposure and $ than baseball. Have you paid attention to their season and tournament ratings (higher than ever)? The Lady Vol BB team may not be important to you but it is very important to the fanbase. This is an extremely important hire for DW. If this hire doesn't succeed, how are people going to fell about the not-to-distant search for Barnes' replacement? My trust in him will be impacted by how this LV search goes.No offense, but you have a screw loose if you think the LV hire—whether great or terrible—is going to have people questioning Danny White being a top-notch AD. That comment is laughable at best.
LV basketball is the fourth most important sports program on campus now whether their fans want to believe it or not and and softball is knocking on the door.

That applies to me also ......I quit that site about two years ago as far as posting goes .I still read it for info purposes only .Pretty sure I already got run out of there. I had so many posts deleted that it just wasn't worth the bother. Maria going to full panhandling mode pretty much sealed the deal.
There was a reason no one of significance tried to hire Holly as head coach for decades. At the time, I liked the Holly Warlick hiring a lot more than I did when Kellie was hire. With Holly, it seemed like the natural changing of the guard. At first, it seemed like she had momentum and that she was the right choice, but the wheels came off the bus badly after a few years. When Kellie was hired, it was like they settled for a low cost option that would make the existing fanbase happy (woman, former player under Pat). I hope they don't make the same mistake again.

I’m big on JR it’s a lateral Kellie move but with some energy. Another husbando Waifu combo too! LmaoIf it is JR Payne, before any FLIPS their lid about her W-L record, her whole career is based on taking programs that were in the gutter and turning them around.
She has done that everywhere she’s been. As a CU fan I have been pleasantly surprised and very proud of the tradition she restored to what had been a good program when I was a kid.
Prior to her time at CU they were a perennial bottom feeder in the PAC-12 and she brought them back to a great place.
She can really coach some basketball, but I’m not convinced she is the right personality or recruiter for the Tennessee job. If it is her who is hired she will need some very good and very experienced assistants.
No revenue wise LVs are ahead… I’d say we are still 3rd.
They still haven’t won anything
Just remember the WCWS is the Elite 8 not a final 4Okay on the revenue. But the LV softball has been to five WCWS since LV basketball last went back to the Final Four. And last year the softball team won the SEC regular season, SEC Tournament and finished 3rd in the nation. So I wouldn't say they haven't won anything.
