She works for the government and she is discriminating. A free society should allow someone to sell loose cigarettes, or to smoke marijuana, or whatever. A free society cannot allow government to discriminate.

That's the difference.

She's not discriminating. She stopped issuing ANY marriage licenses.

Man, if you're going to be outraged at least know what you're outraged about.

I'm not really outraged. I don't care that much about this story. It's a small thing that will go away soon. I don't know every detail because I've mostly ignored it. It's been going on so long, that I've decided to come in and see what all the fuss is about.

So she won't issue marriage licenses at all? Why don't they just fire her?

My understanding is that government can't discriminate, so if they issue marriage licenses, they have to issue them to gays, too. There is no new law necessary.

Kentucky did pass a law restricting marriage to man and woman, but SCOTUS changed all that, right?

BTW, that was the first amendment to Kentucky's constitution, LMFAO!

You can sell loose cigarettes....you just can't sell them in front of a business that carries cigarettes.

Is that right? Seems like you'd have to have some sort of license to sell tobacco.

**** the store, IMO. The tax is so high on cigarettes there has to be a black market. The stores should stop carrying them to protest the tax.

Pretty much.

However it is a big deal considering she wasn't violating the SCOTUS ruling yet the Federal Courts intervened anyway. All these libertarians and anarchist we have in here and none seem to give a **** about that. Funny, no?

Yeah, I like rule of law, but it's never observed so I don't mind that much when it's not observed for positive outcomes.
