Kim Davis

Look on the bright side at least she wasn't a muslim. She would have probably chopped their heads off.

That's some good old Christian Evangelical tactics right there ! Make sure to hog the spotlight, try to cast yourself as the martyr, and keep the other candidate off the stage!
You're taking up for Cruz??? You must consider the Huckabee transgression to be quite serious.

No but carry permits are denied daily and not for religious beliefs.

She didn't violate anyone's rights since she refused to issue any licenses. I wonder how many couples took the 20 min drive to the next county?

The burden shouldn't be on others to drive to another county, it should be on her to do her freaking job or find another one.

It was bad enough that he got on stage and took over the whole thing, saying "put me in jail, not her!" and announcing her to the stage like he was on the microphone at a WWE event, with music blaring. All, supposedly, just in the name of God and religious freedom.

But then he reminded everyone he is running for POTUS and his people kept Cruz of the stage.

Judging by the comments of even those on here that support Davis, Huckabee's opportunism here was insincere and in a way darkly cynical commentary on religion once again being used by a "Man of God" to just line his own pockets, so to speak.

It angers me when religious leaders seem to be using that for personal financial or political gain, and that is true regardless of the cause. Sharpton is a hack and a fraud. So is Huckabee.

Gays are generally 2 income, no children. They should be able to afford a nice set of wheels to make a short drive to another county. It won't kill them, besides the leaves should be turning soon in Kentucky.

It should be a nice outing for them.

Dumb post is dumb.

Basically, you're either excusing her because she's an outlier (which is never grounds for excuse) or you're asserting that what she did ought to be permitted across the board.

The latter entails they you would see nothing wrong if every clerk in Kentucky did this, or every clerk east of the Mississippi. You'd just say, "Pack your bags boys and head west".

She wasn't issuing any marriage licenses so the real burden was being placed on the poor trailer trash with the broken down Pinto.

It would cut down on the divorce rate..... :)

Ok - I'm not reading 11 or whatever number of pages of this thread. Nevertheless, this is not about what she believes, it is about disobeying the order of a federal judge - which is contempt of court. Her options were to: 1) obey the order and issue the licenses 2) quit and let somebody else do the job 3) disobey the order and go to jail. That's it. She chose what was behind curtain number 3.

The same liberals who are going after Davis for not "obeying the law" are the same ones who are defending Hillary for not obeying the law.

Wrong.

This Kim Davis joke needs to be fired, and Hillary Clinton needs to be in jail and never president of this country.

You may be right.

But it's precisely because she isn't a Muslim, or anything other than a Protestant Christian, that she was in this position to begin with.

Particularly in the state of Kentucky.

"It won't kill them" is a horrible horrible defense. We're debating the principle--whether Kim Davis or the couples should be the side inconvenienced by her stubbornness--not about how personally important to you that principle is.
