Kirby Smart pushed Miss St QB

It seems pretty obvious that wasn't intended for the kid. Or to put it better, he didn't shove the kid because he was mad at him or retaliating. He clearly isn't looking at him and he's clearly yelling at someone down the sideline. He might have truly thought it was one of his guys. The QB immediately jogged back and didn't say anything. But that was too egregious to just chalk as up "ope sorry let me scoot by ya real quick" type of move. I'd issue him a hefty fine and probation but I don't think that deserves a suspension.

In front of two refs who just swallowed their whistles.....

At an absolute minimum, its 15 yards plus a fine....

At what point does the SEC want to discipline his program. Before or after they kill more people driving?

I agree that should have been a penalty. Kirby's a hothead with his own players but I've never seen him react like that to another player or get in any sort of altercation (remember he infamously picked up Bryce Young from the sideline during the pick 6 to clinch the national title). Like I said, I think he thought that was one of his guys, but even still that's too aggressive for the sideline even if he pushed one of his players. There should be some form of repercussions.

In the postgame, he said he thought it was Glenn Schumann and he was "trying to get his attention." Which is still very interesting. He didn't just bump or put his hand on the player - it's an outright shove.

Unless UGA really stumbles later this year (misses or gets bounced early from CFP), Kirby is still very much in an untouchable position. IMO, any other coach in college football would be facing serious calls for him to be fired for all the off-field arrests/player and staff deaths.

No matter who he claims he thought the kid was; who would it be appropriate for him to lay that hit on? There is no defense.
Just like Jermaine Burton. Just like Omari Thomas with the push.
You just hit someone. No defense.

Well hold on. He didn't hit him lol. This is not a Woody Hayes situation.

I think the days of winning coaches getting fired for bad optics is basically over.
A losing coach is toast.

You ever been "not hit" by a couple of forearms with a running start?
You don't hurt people with your fists. Real damage comes from forearms and elbows, shoulders and knees.
He hit him with both arms.
He extended his arms when he hit him in order to hit him harder.

About Woody Hayes. What are the chances he wasn't drunk when he clocked that guy?

Outside of a horrific scandal (Baylor or Penn St), I'm not sure those days ever existed.

That's why I said "if he was any other coach" he'd be facing some kind of hot seat. No other coach has won 2 of the last 3 national titles and probably still had the best team in the country last year.

If UGA was good but winning at any level less than what they have (think like Ryan Day or James Franklin), I think there'd actually be serious calls for his job because in the back of UGA's mind they'd be thinking "maybe we can get a better coach anyway." The amount of speeding incidents after a player and staff member were killed doing is astonishing, and the only reason he's been insulated from it for the most part is because he's lost 3 games over the last 3+ seasons.

So… #0 for MS State makes a big play which frustrates Kirby. Then Kirby “accidentally” shoved that player as he is making his way back to the sideline? I’m sure Kirby’s frustration didn’t have anything to do with who he shoved. He shouldn’t be allowed to put his hands on anyone from the opposing team.

Kirby McSuperCuts better settle his raggedy arse down. So has anything come of this???

Kirby is a multimillionaire with a 1984 buttcut. Looks like that poor bastard who shows up on the 1st day of school with highwater jeans and his mom surely cut his hair. With a Flowbee.

I'll answer that for him. NO

Yeah, no excuses bc this should not happen. I wouldn’t balk at there being some kind of consequences for this, but I honestly don’t think the NCAA should go overboard with it. It was a mistake but it wasn’t malicious or intentional. Kirby is a high energy coach, but he has to be more aware and never let something like this happen. I was glad to see that Kirby acknowledged the mistake and apologized and tried to explain his mindset and why he made such a mistake. It’s unacceptable and should never happen, I don’t think he will ever do something like this again. At least not while there are cameras present! 🤣😂🤣

Is “high-energy” code for a**hole? Because that’s what he is. He happens to be an a-hole who wins, so people are okay with his bowl-cut shaking, visor dislodging, cuss-my-players-out-over-everything-but-their-reckless-driving tomfoolery.
