Just like in 2001, when we played LSU in the SECCG. We had their QB, Davey, on the ropes. Then he is injured and Saban put in Mauck, and they took advantage of our well prepared, but poorly adjusting, defense the rest of the game.Yep, I took some solace knowing the guy that rolled up tuas ankle was his own OLineman who was in the midst of an egregious hold, his arms wrapped around the defender.
It seemed like justice. The only possible punishment that could be imagined.
Then realized karma doesn't apply to bama, as hurts was the only way that bama was going to take advantage of georgia well prepared but poorly adjusting defense.
So you would have been good with this playoff:
1. 12-1 Georgia
2. 10-3 Texas
3. 10-3 Washington
4. 9-4 Northwestern
Nice
Conference champ has never been the main criteria for getting in and shouldn't. It's the 4 best teams. Bama didn't last year and was obviously the best team in the country in the end. Not only that but conferences aren't built the same and the sec takes a beating because of it. How many sec teams could have won the other conference championships? Georgia would prob win every one except maybe against Clemson.
I think Kyler Murray is a phenomenal athlete but do you seriously think he would have put up the same numbers in the sec like he has against teams that's literally like playing 7 on 7?
It's like us having to play Bama every year, especially the last 10 years. Pretty much a guaranteed lost and now with Georgia being elite we could literally go 10-2 and not even make the sec championship and still be a top 5 team. We wouldn't be ranked 5th with 2 loses but if we played Bama and Georgia to close loses like last night it would be hard not to say that we aren't one of the top teams in the country. That's assuming that we will get back to where we're capable which I don't think we will in the near future. Or you could put Florida in that position.
I'm not a fan of 8 teams. I would be for 6.
So the criteria for bring considered the "four best teams" doesnt need to include the ability to win your conference? What are you talking about UGA did not win the conference championship, bama won.
The final choices should be made from only conference champions which would mean you must make and win your conference for a chance at the national title.

The problem with the ACC is that they allow Notre Dame to be a member in every sport but football where they play an ACC schedule but aren't technically in the league. This will come back to bite them one day when Notre Dame keeps one of their teams out of the playoff.Maybe part of the issue is how conference championship games are done. I mean Pitt is not the second best team in the ACC.
