Kirkland Jr. out

"Rehabilitation time for a meniscus repair is about 3 months. A meniscectomy requires less time for healing — approximately 3 to 4 weeks. Meniscus tears are extremely common knee injuries. With proper diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, patients often return to their pre-injury abilities."

I'm no doctor, but I hope it's the 2nd option.

One of the Alabama RBs had a simile tear in August a few years back. He missed the first game and was slow starting but ended up winning the Heisman and Bama won the NC.

So Butch can only fill one position at a time? Wonderful! We may finally have a chance to win the East division by 2029 at this rate.

Yeah, ok guys, well since you can't see it, I'll let you know. We are LOADED at the skill positions, Because we had to win games while we rebuilt this line from scratch. Have a nice day.

Actually it did subside instead of continuing to get worse. Thanks for asking Behr.

I know what you mean but I hadn't had any concern over the injuries until it hit a thin position. Just hoping the competition for that spot is stronger than last year and that includes Jumper. Maybe Rock has added a little of that toughness/explosiveness people are complaining about a lack of.

Just wishing DK a speedy recovery.

Good to hear Charger.

It's hard not to wonder given the position and the depth chart questions. UT needs to be healthy all around but LB was a concern even before this.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't remember a single game in which Kirkland Jr. was even remotely dominant. Please direct me to a game or some highlights that show how much of a badass Kirkland is.

Absolutely.
This one does sting, I kicked my bucket of light bulbs last night and now hoping Rock has worked magic.

Hope everything is going well with you too man.

Jumper has made huge strides from '15 to '16 and i don't really see him being a liability against Tech. They don't pass much so he shouldn't be exposed. Losing DKjr hurts but I don't think it will be a major hit.

He's never been dominated but he was an up and coming player that flashed great potential. Good instincts. Don't be a hater.

I don't know. I never saw much explosiveness from him. I heard he was a smart player, but I seem to remember him just being mainly a non-factor. Our defense is gonna suck this year with or without Kirkland, so it doesn't really matter. Just hope we score 40 points a game.

A lot of Jumper bashing but the guy should get major love due to one fact; he stays healthy!

You know, I keep trying to walk away from this but you guys got my wheels turning, GT will not be able to run the ball like they want. Their star Runningback and Olinemen are out. They will try to outscore us like we will be trying to outscore them. Expect 80 points of offense in this game. It will be a shootout. D got nothing to do with it, and we will walk away prepping for dogfight with Florida. Which will be a dogfight. There is a reason sharkboy is holding out players for Michigan. He's coming after UT.

Yea, Count made a good point last night I think. Don't remember his exact words, but what I got out of it was, some of these guys may have been in worse shape than we thought before Rock got here.

Because we have been scrambling for Olinmen since 2012.

Nice try but no. If a position group has been over recruited as far as numbers go look at CB's & Safeties. It is still the responsibility of the staff to recruit ALL positions not just most. That logic may work for a year, but this is year five of recruiting classes. We shouldn't be in trouble at this position. Doug Mathews talked about this last week and expressed grave concerns for the LB position here. Also stated that the 4-2-5 is hurting us and a 4-3 would be better. Jumper and Ell Berry are better locked in the middle of a 4-3.

Everybody calm down. This is exactly why we sign one linebacker every year-- to be prepared for situations like this.

Likely should sign 2 or more and try to figure out how to sign guys with a stronger and better built pair of knees.
Being the best in high school may not be that good in college if they have lightly built knees. I know this will sound dumb to many on here, but their must be a way to investigate this type thing. Health and sports pros seem to be able to "see" everything else.

Our defense is gonna be crappy this year regardless of whether Kirkland plays. Remember, this is a defense that got totally humiliated by Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, TAMU, and Missouri. Let's just hope we score 40 points a game. Go Vols!!

Some knee injuries are unavoidable, but you can limit them by getting the quadriceps built up to provide stability to the knee. It all goes back to S&C.

Uhhh..... Did you just become a UT fan a couple of minutes ago? We were decimated by injuries on D and were literally playing walk-ons by the end of the season...

That's exactly what we do. It's at the top of our list........moron

Hi Kingsport; Power T is not a moron. I know the way he stated his thought may not have sounded right. But, I seem to remember several times over the years having heard of us signing guys with questionable health. One that comes to mind was Hurd. Seem to remember another mid Tenn running back with a knee senior year, (not sure) there have been others over the years just can't but my finger on them by name.

Exactly, if he improves half as much between seasons this year as he did last year, he could be the man. With another year under Shoops system, new strength and conditioning regimens, another year of growth, I would expect that improvement. Jumper works hard, if the coaches say he's the next man up, there's a reason.
