Kirkland Jr. out

Our defense is gonna be crappy this year regardless of whether Kirkland plays. Remember, this is a defense that got totally humiliated by Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, TAMU, and Missouri. Let's just hope we score 40 points a game. Go Vols!!

Whatever, the guys that were playing the year were 2 and 3rd team when the year started. Go ahead and act like injuries didn't have anything to do with our performance. I'll wait and see how we do before I buy your theory or whatever you want to call it. I got another word for it but I will refrain. GO BIG ORANGE!!!!

Wanna bet? I guarantee you we will get scorched again this year. I'm basing this on past performance, our predilection for injuries, coaching, and strength and conditioning. You are basing your analysis on hope.

The fact that some keep trying to say its no big deal and that Jumper is just as good... is even more hilarious.

FWIW, can you name someone who said UT couldn't win without DKjr?

Where I agree with the theme of your posts in this thread: Jumper is not the caliber of LB suited for the SEC. I've heard others describe him as the perfect fit for programs like Ivy League and Service Academies; I agree with those assessments.

Where I disagree: Shoop made his mark in the SEC at Vandy with an entire defense of Jumper-caliber athletes. Shoop not only competed but also came away with several impressive victories. UT's defense is more athletic as a whole with Jumper than the defense of Vandy.

You and I both liked the hiring of Shoop. I've cooled on him a bit after last year while you have remained optimistic. Seems to me if Shoop is as good as advertised, he can compete and win with a player like Jumper since he used to field a whole team of those kinds of players.

So most can agree that LB is our weakest point depth wise right now, so who do we have right now that are currently committed or we are recruiting heavily? Clearly recruiting and player development in this area has suffered, so what needs to be done? Bates has not been mentioned a single time through all of this--- he's a RS Junior and not even in the conversation... disturbing. We have 13 LB listed on the roster and I believe including Jumper now we have 11 on scholarship.... No one has mentioned Austin Smith, I thought I read where he had a great camp? So with Bituli, McDowell, Smith, Ignont, Berry, Jumper, Sapp, and Page, we should be okay for the first few games...

We had a ton of folks out for Bama and lost a to in the game with the aggies. You are not very well versed in UT football. You need to just stop with your BS! GBO VOLS!!!!

More excuses. Our defense will get torched this year, especially without Sutton and Barnett. There are no stars on the defensive side of the football for us. We had better score 40 points a game. Once again, I am using past performance, our predilection for injuries, coaching, and strength and conditioning in my analysis. You are using hope. Our D will be swiss cheese.

You're basing last years results off this years results when the season hasn't even started yet? Congratulations for being ridiculous.

Lol. I don't even know what to say. You gave no rebuttal, you told Boca to "be careful because some people don't like you pointing stuff out"
Then said "see" when the guy repeated his opinion and didn't even quote or attack anyone. Then told me to "fire away" for explaining no one attacked you.
Did you just call me PARANOID?!? My fifth grade teacher called me that once. Unrelated fact, she was on an episode of Unsolved Mysteries!

Ugggghhhhhh. Either Butch needs to stop recruiting players made of glass or we need to change up how we're practicing because I refuse to believe that the amount of injuries we've had these past 3 seasons is just a coincidence

"players made of glass"

Hope you were drunk when you typed that.

Recruiting talent hasn't been the problem the last two years, developing that talent has been and still is a problem going into this season.

Either this guy is a troll, totally ignorant or is President of the NegaVols Club on Vol Nation! :thud:

The perfect example of a negative view! Come on, I am not saying we should have the #1 defense in the nation but it is not in the realm of possibility and probability we will do much better than our injury plagued season last year!

Bituli is going to be good but he's banged up. Most of the others are not MLB's.

Yes, one would think we should be able to field 3-4 SEC-quality LBs from that group. If our DBs once again lead the team in tackles this year, something is wrong. Every single one of our LBs should be game-ready this year, including our freshmen.

With Kirkland I'm having flashbacks of Maggitt. Great player but can't stay on the field.
