Knoxville Restaurants

Hoskins Pharmacy in Clinton has a great lunch counter. Best Pinto beans I've had outside my momma's house.

The Lunch House on Magnolia is good, I'll take it over Chandler's any day. I thought Chandler's was way overrated.

Ye Olde is also overrated IMO. Decent steaks and desserts but the sides seem to come from the freezer section at Kroger and the salads taste like they came out of a plastic bag. Butcher Shop DID a better steak before they closed, but now IMO Ruth's Chris has the best steak in town, but not local.

The Peddler in GBurg does a decent steak, but I think they've gone downhill a bit in recent years. Hard to beat the atmosphere though, especially if you get a table in the river room, probably the best place to take the Mrs. for Valentines Day, you'll definitely get bonus points with her. Awesome salad bar too, maybe the best salad bar around.

Bayou Bay is a good lunch option, but they can be hit or miss. Their Red Beans and Rice is great, and they do a good gumbo too.

Little Tokyo on Chapman has some of the best sushi in town, I think there's one in Pigeon Forge too. I'll take it over Nama anytime, and I work on Gay street so I eat at Nama quite a bit.

Bistro at the Bijou is decent, they do a good burger, but I'm a carnivore and Martha seems to gear her specials towards vegetarians.

I've never had a bad burger at Litton's, but I've not eaten there in awhile. Best Coconut Cream Pie in the world though.

If you want a hotdog/chilidog/slawdog, there is ONLY one option, White Star Market in Seymour across from the highschool. Great Nanner Puddin too.

Connors is ok, not a huge fan, but it's worth the trip just for the Lobster Bisque.

Foothills Milling Company in Murrville may be the single best restaurant in the area, but it's spendy.

Speaking of the new brewery in Western Plaza, the original Kalamata Kitchen in the plaza was great before it closed. From what I understand the owners just wanted out of the business, it didn't close due to lack of customers, or so they say. Then a few years later they had a change of heart and opened that abomination out near Pellissipi on Northshore. A Greek/Sushi restaurant?

Not a fan of German food but everyone I know that has ate at Linderhof loved it.

If you're in Morristown the Little Dutch is a solid choice.

Not a local restaurant but I would love it if a Bahama Breeze opened in Kville. Same company that does Olive Garden and Red Lobster, but their stuff is awesome. Much better than the typical chain restaurant. Some of the best seafood I've ever had, and I'm a seafood nut. Knox is seriously lacking a good seafood place.

Ban-worthy IMO

Yeah the lemon breeze by itself is worthy of opening a franchise here.

Chandler's was good. In fact, it was very good, but it was far from one of the top restaurants in Knoxville.

Bahama Breeze is an overrated restaurant chain that will valet park your car. The food menu is horrid and unless you want a fruity drink or mojito they can stay in Fla.

I was just about to say.. what a strange area to put this brewery in.

Not as familiar with this particular location but I'm convinced there are certain lots in Knoxville that are seriously cursed when it comes to restaurants.

Former Litton's West location

Former Margaritas Restaurant across from American Radio. It was a Don Pablo's before it was Margaritas.

Former Copelands resturant across from Bravo Bearden Hill.

This won't happen. It's a second location for Young Williams Animal shelter. Switched over a few years ago.

Ive eaten at both Lunch House and Chandlers in the last month, theyre both convenient to downtown, right down the street from each other. Eaten at Lunch House many times, Chandlers only a few. Ive always had better food and service at the Lunch House. Chandlers does serve huge portions though.

Bahama Breeze is a chain, but have to disagree about the food. Good stuff. They used to have the best Tuna steak I' ve ever had there.

Slightly off topic, but the fact that we have basically NO quality lakefront dining in Knoxville is another clear example of terrible planning by the city. We have to be one of the worst cities in the country for taking advantage of our geographic advantages. There is no excuse for the waterfront not having multiple great restaurants/music venues/parks. Good food, outdoor seating, and music would make a killing along the lake -- esp around the Bearden area, Pellisippi/Northshore, and downtown.

Lakeside Tavern is the only one in Knoxville(I think), not sure how you rate them, unless you also want to count the riverside restaurants as well.

I bet it somehow has something to do with money.

I know a few people who like it. Never been myself.
Linderhof great German restaurant. VERY authentic. If you go, be prepared. Things are not done on a fast pace. It will take some time as they prepare everything to order. This is how Germans go out to dinner. Its a social occassion with a meal in the middle.

This thread had been everything I wanted it to be. So my new question is this: you have to take your buddy out, your family out and your love interest out in 3 different nights. Where do you take each?
