Knoxville Restaurants

First trip to Five tonight: the concept works. Every single thing we had was fantastic. Honestly, quite reasonable for the quality of the food. They feature fresh seafood from their boat/location in Destin, and they had Cobia tonight, one of my favorite fish. The spicy shrimp appetizer puts bang bang shrimp to shame. If I had a complaint, a little skimpy on their pours.

Nice decor, attentive service, and excellent food.

I told you that place was great! I went there before Boomsday and loved it. And you're right about the shrimp, it kills the bang bang.

Saw an great review of a new restaurant opening this week, Emilia. New Italian Restaurant from the owners and chef of Knox Mason. Opens this week in Market Square where Latitude 35 used to be

Just in case some need a new spot to try :hi:

I'm all over that. Knox Mason is very good, and I am not ecstatic about any local Italian.

There is a good chance you played AYSO against Matt Gallaher back in the day. Him and his brother, Kevin, played for east Knox at forks of the river. Matt is the chef at Knox Mason and Kevin is now an eye surgeon

So no Altruda's, Sevelli's, or Naples for you?

I like Altruda's and Savelli's ok. Never been a huge Naples fan. It's been awhile since I checked, but I don't think either of those offered gluten free pasta (for my wife). A lot of chains do now, but I don't care for them.

I should check back, because I do love some good Italian. Honestly, we just usually cook it at home (lasagna, parm, marsala, picatta, etc).

It's not exactly fine dining, but Oscars on Cumberland is pretty good. I had a difficult time finding great Italian food when I lived in Knoxville.

Have anniversary reservations at Emilia this weekend. Will report back. Thanks for the info!

Emilia is very good tonight. Our server was great, but the wait time for drinks and food was a little lengthy (I expected that with a newly-opened restaurant). Highly recommend the mussels appetizer.

Went to Stock and Barrel for the first time several days ago. There was about a 25 minute wait even at 9pm on a Thursday. We were seated and the server arrived immediately and was very attentive. We ordered some drinks and the Opa cheese and fried green tomatoes appetizer with goat cheese on top. Both apps were delicious! I got a Sazerac(never had one before) and two others got the Bourbon Sangria. The drinks were very well done. We all ordered burgers and the food came out pretty quickly. I got the American Classic with Benton's Bacon and a side of confit fries and another of us got the Bison burger which I tried and it was very good. All in all excellent food, good drinks, and fast service. We would definitely eat here again.

If you get them with your burger it's only like a $2-$3 upcharge as opposed to the $7 you pay for the appetizer portion.

Yeah, I very rarely eat French fries, but I can't pass those up. Plus, the confit is a good source of protein right? *chuckle

We might have brought this up before... but what are some good hole in the wall, old school breakfast places?

Layman's Market in Sevierville always had some of the best tenderloin, but I haven't been there in a while.

Tracy's on Western had some good, cheap breakfast.

Not a hole-in-the wall, but First Watch is great for breakfast

TC's grill in Maryville is very good. Their lunch and dinner is average but breakfast is top notch old school style.

I tried Ktown tavern tonight and I got to say I almost walked out. Sat down at the main bar and didn't get a drink for 15 mins. I don't know of the bar is too big for one person or what. There were about 11 others at the bar. I was just about to leave when she finally came by and got my drink order. Snagged my own menu and just got a burger to go.

How was the burger?

Apparently Josh Dobbs ate there recently.
