Knoxville Restaurants

I just heard that too. It's been a Farragut staple forever, one of the first in the area and seems busy all the time. On the other hand, I have never really been impressed by their food.

I've never cared for Aubrys either. Beers on their patios are nice, but I've never been one to recommend actually dining there.

They have a handful of things they do really well. Their steaks are horrible. They have started having prime rib and they do a good job with that,

"A spokesman for Aubrey's told Local 8 News that parking was the main factor in deciding to close. He said the parking lot is too small to accommodate all of the restaurant's customers."

Aubrey's location in Farragut to close

I'm just trying to figure out how after 24 years parking has suddenly become an issue?

Here is the other article I mentioned previously that reference an aging building.

Aubrey's is ok but when they got rid of the sausage and pimento cheese plate, man sad days. It's an ok place but not one of my fav spots.

Yeah, something doesn't add up. Even if parking is an issue, surely there is some way to expand your lot or create more spaces. Not too many businesses close down just because they are too busy :)

Tried it once, and that was enough to agree with Dave's take on their steaks.

Really? I don't like steaks from too many places. Guess I'm in the minority on their ribeye. Granted, I haven't had one in several years.

I tried that ribeye at 2 different locations at least 5 years apart, and it was bad at both. They were bad cuts of meat lacking flavor and tough as can be. They were similar to the steaks from Kroger's, which I think is the absolute worst place to buy packaged meat. I can buy better selections at Walmart and that's insane.

Actually, at that location, there's really not much room to add parking (at least at a cost anyone with sense would be willing to pay). They're bounded by the road, a bank, and a creek. I imagine they're big on lunch business and without the extra bank parking, they are seriously limited. I imagine the store still makes money, but less and less compared to their busier locations. At a certain point they have to focus their efforts elsewhere.

Now, that said, I'm not sure why moving to the old Edison Park building across the street wouldn't work, but I have no clue who owns it and what they'd want.

We definitely had a different experience. My weren't tough at all. They practically cut themselves into pieces at the mere sight of a knife. :)

And that's what I would expect out of a ribeye. They're pretty hard to screw up.

I've had the ribeye recently and it's good. The hawaiian marinade is what makes the dish stick out and sets it apart from other ribeyes from other restaurants. I get mine cooked medium rare so it's rarely tough. About the only complaint I'd have about it is it's fatty, but it's ribeye so that's to be expected.

Is it as good as a ribeye from Connors, Flemings, or The Peddler? No, but it's prepared differently and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than what you'll pay at any of the above. If you're going to Aubrey's you are going for a decent meal that you don't have to cook, not a fantastic meal that wows you.

Conners has about the most consistent steak in town for a good price. I get the 8oz prime with salad, side, bread, tea for 24 bucks. Not too bad

One note: the mega-Kroger in Farragut now has select cuts in the meat case. They almost always have thick cut Prime ribeyes. Cooked appropriately, they are about as good as it gets. Little tip I learned in a steakhouse: go med-rare+, so the prime marbling melts away enough to tenderize the steak.

They also usually have a dry-aged cut and Angus tenderloin. Before the newer stuff, I agreed 100% with you about their meat.

Ate at Paula Deen's restaurant here in Pigeon Forge this morning. Not really impressed. Biscuits and cinnamon rolls were made from the same dough, and nothing wowed me at all. The bacon was the best part.

Without the name that place wouldn't last 6 months. Had breakfast there last December. A box of Richy Kreme donuts and a sack of Hardee's sausage biscuits would have been better.

Noticed Dead end BBQ in Maryville now has a pet friendly patio. My dog loves some hickory smoked chicken, might have to give it a try.

You might make sure that neither onions nor garlic are used in the seasoning or cooking process. Dogs should not eat it if there is. Sorry, the dog lover in me popped out for a second.

She's been eating smoked chicken since she was a young pup with no problems. I eat the skin(where most of the seasoning would be) and the dark meat and the dog gets the breast meat.

First trip to Five tonight: the concept works. Every single thing we had was fantastic. Honestly, quite reasonable for the quality of the food. They feature fresh seafood from their boat/location in Destin, and they had Cobia tonight, one of my favorite fish. The spicy shrimp appetizer puts bang bang shrimp to shame. If I had a complaint, a little skimpy on their pours.

Nice decor, attentive service, and excellent food.

Love that place. Yazoo Sue on tap.
