Knoxville Restaurants

I'm ashamed to say that I've not been to a lot of these places. I have to get out more.

Did anyone have Guthrie's when it was on the strip? I loved that place.

Is that what went in after Sawyer's?

I loved Guthrie's... I think it was better than Zaxby's, and cheaper. And it was located on the strip where Cookout is now.

I think its main issue was that Zaxby's was right across the street, so people probably went to the more well-known place for chicken.

To be honest, the staff at Guthries was awful, and the manager was an ass. Their food was generally disgusting because they cooked it all at one time and reheated or kept it under lamps.

Not bad when they were slammed, but during slower times they were awful.

Manager was a pain. I remember that. I hardly ever went there when it was slow, so I guess I didn't notice. What a shame. It was a great place.

Well that's like your opinion man. I have had both NY or Chicago style in those cities. Chicago blows NY pizza out of the park.

Aren't they kind of 2 different ends of the spectrum? New York is bigger slices with more seasoning and focus on the sauce, and Chicago is more deep dish with focus on the crust?

I've never had either but that's my impression.

Ny Thin slices, that are large enough to fold in half
Chicago- Deep Dish, with the sauce on Top

me too, I'm not really a fan of Chicago style, and I tried most of them when I lived up there

Zaxby's is expensive and not anything too special imo. Went to Wishbone's for the first time last year and it reminded me of Zaxby's.

Going to pizzas..
Has anyone eaten at Papa John's recently? I hadn't in years and got a pizza a couple weeks ago from there and I swear their sauce changed.

On a side note long time Japanese steakhouse Kanpai of Tokyo is closing it's doors on Mother's day Sunday. Been there a very long time. Apparently they lost their lease as the building has changed hands.

That sucks. Are they moving somewhere else?
