Knoxville Restaurants

A friend of mine reported that Twin Peaks on Northshore dr. has some hot chics. There was little discussion about the food. :)

I'm trying to remember a little restaurant as you're driving in to Townsend through Maryville. This was years ago and at the time it was mostly off by itself just off the main road. They sold country style food and I distinctly remember getting fried okra because it was recommended. I don't know if it's still there or not. Does anyone have any idea what restaurant I'm talking about? Pretty sure it was on 321 in Walland. At any rate it was some good country food.

Its not Elvira's is it?

Kinda what I figured.

Sounds really familiar though.

Ok.. well I think I narrowed it down to 3 possibilities.

Miss Lily's Cafe
Back Porch Restaurant
Black Bear Cafe

That's totally vague though and anyone of those could have changed owners and the menu since then.

AJ's Hearth and Kettle maybe? By the way Black Bear has a really good burger, but the best by far is at Campfire Grill on up the road. You might wait a bit, but it should be worth it.

Saw you mentioned Flaherty's also. I have only had their "full Irish breakfast" and it was pretty satisfying. Their version of bacon is outstanding. The black and white puddings were "interesting" I guess, not my thing but not as bad as it sounds. I no longer see that item on their menu though.

Gosh Ethiopian Restaurant on Sutherland Avenue - you owe it to yourself to try this at least once. I can recommend the Doro Nibs without reservation.

So, who has the best Reuben in Knoxville? A real Reuben, if you will.

Big City Reuben at Smokey Mountain Brewery.

It gets rave reviews apparently. I haven't tried it myself. One review said it was like the one's he used to get in NJ.

Frussie's Deli in South Knoxville is supposedly really good as well but I've not been there either.
