Knoxville Restaurants

Big City Reuben at Smokey Mountain Brewery.

It gets rave reviews apparently. I haven't tried it myself. One review said it was like the one's he used to get in NJ.

Frussie's Deli in South Knoxville is supposedly really good as well but I've not been there either.

Thanks, I'll have to try that one. Looks like they're on Parkside.

I really miss Sam & Andy's and The Roman Room.

Sam and Andy's is still around, there are two locations:
2613 Adair Dr. (North Broadway just north of the 640 loop), and 11110 Kingston Pike(closer towards Farragut Middle& High School).

Another one I'll have to try out. Thanks. Used to be a place on Gay Street years ago that I'd visit when in the area. They had real deli food. Harold's or something like that.

Harold's is long gone my friend, and missed

No, it was Harold's. I kept wanting to call it Harry's but I think that was his son. I remember Gus's well.

That's sad. It was there as far back as I can remember. Still miss Brownie's that was on Cumberland back in the day. Metz and beans, Brownie, and skin 'em.

There are a few good deli shops around but nothing like the originals

Apparently going to Echo for the first time tomorrow night for a birthday dinner. Anybody tried it?
Any recommendations?

I really like Echo. I believe I had a bison steak, tomato salad, and grilled oysters last time I was there. My wife had the scallops. Everything was awesome.

This was a delightful restaurant and everyone on the staff that we spoke to including the chef were very nice. He makes a personal appearance to each table as far as I could tell. We shared several apps including the Escargot, Pan Seared Ahi Tuna spring rolls, and the cheeseplate. I split the Caprese salad with the Grainger County tomatoes with my mom(tomatoes were fabulous btw), and splitting it turned out to be a great choice. The dishes ordered were two fried lobster tails, the filet medallions, soft shell crab, and I got the Bison steak which was very good. There were no complaints from the table. We would definitely go back.

I only snapped a couple photos: The Watermelon in the water is very refreshing, and the chef wanted to make us a Baked Alaska:
