Knoxville Restaurants

Being a fish and chips fan I'd be curious to know what you think of Hurricane's Yuengling battered fish and chips. It's a huge piece of fish they give you.

Haven't tried them yet. I hope someone makes it in that location. It's been like 3-4 different things since I have lived in the Knoxville area the past 2 years.

The fish and chips at We're Cooking on N. Peters in Knoxville, is pretty tasty.

Can I use this space to recommend a bar/tavern/brewery?

Bluetick brewery in Maryville is outstanding. Top notch.

I also recommend the China House resturant in Maryville. They are amazing!

A friend of mine keeps trying to get me to go to Ming Tree in Alcoa, your thoughts? I haven't been to either of the one's you mentioned though.

What about Fleming's? I got a gift card for $50 and I'm going to give it a shot despite the fact that the card will be 40% of the bill. Anybody got a history?

I like Fleming's a lot. They sometimes have a prix fixe deal where you get a salad, steak, and maybe dessert to share. It's a much better deal than a la carte.

The Fleming's potatoes are awesome (, and I had a perfectly cooked bone in ribeye last time I was there.

FYI: you can use that card at any restaurant in the chain (Bonefish, outback, carrabba's...)

Have you tried the Reuben at the Blackhorse?

The wife and I are going down one day this week. I was looking at their online menu, thought that may be what I try.

That's one I haven't had, I'm not big on Rye

Definitely try the beer cheese, with chips or pretzels as an app

Hope you enjoy it

If you go between 5 and 7 PM on weeknights and sit in the bar area you can get a burger for around $7 and I swear by it. Best burger you'll ever have.

Have been meaning to try that out. There are some other good looking options on that happy hour menu, as well.

One more note: prepare to spend $150-200 for 2, especially if you plan on having a cocktail or glass of wine with dinner (salad, steak, 2 sharing sides).

That sounds insanely overpriced compared to other comparable options around town.

It's pricey, but so are prime beef, quality sides, and knowledgeable, attentive staff. Really, there aren't any "comparable options" in Knoxville, aside from Ruth's Chris. I'm not saying there aren't other restaurants that are as good, just not prime steakhouses. Bigger cities have more options, but they are all in the $40-50/steak range.

For the record, I had one of the best I've ever eaten at Capital Grille in Jax last weekend. It was grilled with a porcini rub, served over a little olive oil/balsamic vinegar (preparation suggested by our server).

Ahh, I didn't know it was all prime beef. The price of the prime I can understand but overpriced a la carte sides, are they that good at Flemings? I might have to try it now since it's prime. Connor's had prime filets as a special one evening but they don't consistently stock it. You just can't find steak that tender outside of prime cuts.

I agree. To each his own. I just do not see what one can do to a plain baked potato to make it worth $9.95.

Those taters were grown in soil fertilized by the poo of Angora rabbits and the Kardashian sisters.

The Fleming's potatoes are anything but plain. Imagine thin layers of heaven drenched in creamy jalapeño cheese sauce and baked to perfection. Plus, the sides are enough for 2-3 people to share.
