Knoxville Restaurants

I'll back up this list and add a few more.

Northshore Brasserie, Stock and Barrel, Connor's, Fleming's, Bida Saigon(Vietnamese), Don Gallo(Mexican).

There is a somewhat new restaurant in Lenoir City called Le Noir. I haven't been there myself but have heard good reviews of it. If you happen to check it out please let us know.

Bida :hearteyesemoji:

Ok so for those of you who did or did not like Peerless in the past, it's gonna be getting a pretty big face lift over the next few months. Not only will it have a whole new look, but it's gonna be rebranded and taken in a whole new direction. Today the servers, bartenders, and rest of the staff got a first look at all the changes. The rebranding will be to a new restaurant focused on craft beers, fine whiskeys, and food based more on the region. There will still be some favorites from the Peerless brand, but just about everything will be new.

There will be separate bars for if you'd prefer to watch the game and have a beer (40 craft beers at all times is the plan) or have a more relaxed setting with a fine bourbon (100 whiskeys). The initial goal is to have the whiskey bar open by the end of August, with other changes coming soon after. The front of the building will be completely blown out and will have a garage door-style wall that can be raised for an indoor/outdoor feel.

Myself and the rest of the bar staff and serving staff are pretty psyched about this. The new name will be the K Town Tavern. The restaurant will still have its banquet facility, which will maintain the Peerless brand. They are also adding a level of branding for wedding parties.

My assessment, from the explanation, is for them to bring a Stock & Barrel feel to West Knoxville.

Just figured I'd share some big news I just got!

This sounds like a mix between Stock and Barrel, Double Dogs, and Carolina Ale House.

I don't know Double Dogs, but I agree on Ale House. That was one of the couple of establishments ownership mentioned by name when we had the discussion. I actually went into Ale House a couple weeks ago and just didn't care for it one bit. But I tend to try to not judge a place off of one instance. It feels like the marrying of Ale House and Stock and Barrel, and imo in that location, that's something that could thrive. Being at Cedar Bluff, you can attract a lot of the Farragut crowd or the Gettysvue members who want a nice bourbon on the rocks, but you can also get those who want a less scuzzy sports atmosphere that isn't Twin Peaks.

Double Dogs is a great place to watch a game, it's on Hardin Valley. Good bar food, great chicken tenders, tv's everywhere in addition to a tv wall, they also have the garage door style sections. I went to Carolina Ale House once and I was very disappointed. I can't even tell you the food was "good" because it wasn't. I have no intention of going back voluntarily. If you guys plan on still having Peerless quality food it should work.

I agree with that. Their wings were just so mediocre for being a wing-forward place.

As for us, it seems like the goal is to be as fresh as possible with everything, which is keeping in line with the way Peerless quality worked. I expect the difference to be more in the selection and less in the quality with which that selection is prepared. I'm looking forward to it, especially since it should drive in plenty of business. The dining room has been quite stale of late, even though I believe the food is worthy of more patronage. Theoretically the relaunch should reinvigorate current happy customers and could convince others, including former disgruntled guests, to come in and enjoy a great new environment.

Oh another huge change will be a brand new wood-fired pizza oven in the dining area. Also it sounds like they're planning to add a smoker to the kitchen for ribs and other barbecue offerings.

I've been to Peerless and liked it enough, it just never really pops up as a place to go again.

But consider me very interested in these changes. If they hit the atmosphere they're going for, I could see it being a very popular place for the 30ish/40ish crowd I'm in.

Agreed on all with the exception of Bida, as I haven't been there. Oh, and Ruth's Chris has to make the list if you are in the high $$$ market for a dang good steak.

I still haven't been to Le Noir, but I need to check it out. Drive by it every day.

Would you guys rate Fleming's or Ruth's Chris ahead of Ye Olde? Haven't been to Ye Olde in forever.

Yes to Flemings.I haven't been to Ruth's Chris is years but remember thinking it was overpriced and overrated.

Fleming's is part of the Outback chain based in Tampa so I've been there many times. I like the one in Sarasota because Roy's is connected and you can get either menu.

Ruth's Chris is hit or miss. Been to very good ones and others were, meh.

I also like the single location steakhouses as well. If you're ever in the W. Palm area check out Okeechobee Steakhouse. Very good and reasonable by Steakhouse standards

I'll keep that one in mind.

One of the best steaks I've had lately was at Kayne Prime in Nashville. Pricey but amazing meal.

Not quite in Knoxville, but Los Primos in Rockwood/Kingston area off of 347 is very solid Mexican. The shredded chicken chimichangas are pretty awesome!

We visited Ye Olde years ago and we didn't walk away overly impressed. If you want to give it another shot anyway, I say go for it. Between those three here is how I'd rank them.

1. Flemings
2. Ruth Chris
3. Ye Olde

I agree, Ruth's Chris is hit or miss. I haven't had the chance to try Roy's but wouldn't mind at all with it being Hawaiian fusion. Having been to both Outback and Fleming's I can say without a doubt that although those two restaurants are owned by the same company they have no similarity.

Both, and it's not close.

Interesting to hear the assessments of Ruth's Chris. All my friends and colleagues say you can always count on the food there, no matter the location. My experience gives me no reason to disagree.

Expensive? Yep. But Prime beef and quality service ain't cheap.

I think the most important part to note is the quality. Most people don't know the quality of the beef that they're getting at restaurants. You can love a steak and it not be prime quality, just like you can not care for a specific type of steak and have it be the highest quality available. My understanding is that at Ruth's Chris, the odds are always in your favor to get a properly-grilled cut of prime beef.

Connor's consistently has great filets. If you're looking for a great steak that's delicious but not prime or at prime prices then I highly recommend giving it a try. The service is always professional and well handled. On rare occasions they'll offer a prime steak as a special.

Peerless' only prime cut of beef is the bone-in ribeye. It's pretty damn good.

A consistently solid choice
