Kongbo "rescinds" commitment

This is a crucial class because of size. Losing a recruit like Kongbo would sting in any class, but the fact its so small, intensifies that sting.

One guy won't make or break this class, and it's got some good pieces, but missing on many more of the needs remaining, would hurt in the long haul. One Dooleyesque class would be a set back. Imo

I disagree. One class is not going to kill you as long as it is an outlier and has some high level players like this one. You can only start 22 position players in a game.

Is it still the "dead period"? If so, can a recruit contact a coach and decommit or do the coaches have to find out via Twitter?

I see your point, but I disagree. Alabama is in the hunt year after year because they always have too tier talent. Five no. 1 ranked recruiting classes since Saban arrived. There is no drop off.

Those 22 do you no good if the drop off is noticeable behind them. We've been there before...

If substitutions were prohibited and we didn't have special teams then this might make sense. This was easy to see coming. Butch is a great recruiter when there's lots of in state talent that bleeds orange and a few oos legacies. Now we get to see how he recruits when it's mano a mano with the big dogs.

Yes, the dead period is still going. Recruits are allowed to talk to coaches, just not see them face to face.

what we must keep in mind is our class will be smaller this year due to numbers. Our ending ranking isnt going to be what we are used to under Butch simply because of numbers. We want to look at the average star number at the end. we can end up with a 3.9 avg but due to numbers wont be as high as another school with same average. I have total confidence in these coaches judging kids on the needs of the team not just the number of stars they carry

Everyone on the numbers kick- is just trying to imply, that even though we're taking a regular class, we should still be able to take a highly ranked class. Which results from better individuals, not the total number in the class.

I trust Butch in talent evaluation, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit scared. I know we're taking needs, but besides JG, we haven't really got anyone coming in. We're more than likely going to have 1-2 down years after this year, but I hope I'm wrong. Next seasons team holds all our play makers and most of them are NFL bound. Berry needs to switch to offense

Wow a realistic post. Some people on this board remind me of some people at work. Everything will always be OK, and the company will take care of you. Yea right. My company is in big time debt, and anybody not looking for another job is an idiot. Let's just act like an ostrich and keep our head in the sand.

Other than JG, I do not see a big time recruit in this class, YET. Most of the recruits we hope to get, Mecole, Dickerson, Brown, etc have more CBP to other schools. They are not always correct, but they are most of the time. So you guys keep dreaming and get devastated when NSD is done. I myself, would rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointed.:hi:

So you're that guy sitting all by himself in the break room, eating your potted meat sammich and microwave ravioli muttering how everything is going to hell all over the place? :scare:
