Kongbo "rescinds" commitment

So many opinions...so little time...
We're really just talking about one guy, a JUCO, no less.
Wasted time on this guy...so what...moving on...:salute:

GO VOLS!

yea this was no surprise.....the offers are rolling in...hope we still get him

Bama doesn't have down years because of class size. People using that excuse are looking for a silver lining. There isn't one.

Yeah well, we're not Alabama. They have won 3 titles under Saban and is competing for another one. Besides, we don't have an NCAA president in our back pocket that allows us to bring in every sleazy, used car salesman type coach that uses questionable tactics to recruit. I'd say Kongbo used Tennessee to ensure a spot and lost interest as soon as teams out west started offering him.

Still lots of big names out there. Let's just relax and wait until after NSD to panic.

As long as we get a few potential starters out of this class at positions of need, which we have done, it is no big worry considering the talent we have in the previous two classes. Especially considering that there is a potentially elite QB in this class.

Now, what it means is that next year needs to be back on par with those previous two classes or we could be in trouble.

Of all positions we don't need a Juco prospect, DE tops the list. We are stacked with depth and talent there. While we wouldn't turn down someone with elite talent, we don't need someone to come in and to play there for 1 year or 2 tops. We are set up to take and develop the HS players at DE.

I believe I remember everyone knowing last year that we wouldn't have as many spots this year, and that we wouldn't have as high a ranking in this recruiting class. Fact is we needed to get talent in as quick as possible, and Butch has done that. That meant signing big classes the first couple years, so now we have a low number we can sign. Tennessee as become a contender again because Butch knows what he is doing.
Also, we are still 4 weeks away from National Signing Day and I bet Butch will makes some things happen. We will end up with a good class for the numbers he has to work with. Everyone believes Tennessee will be the team to beat in the Sec East next year, so Butch has been doing a good job to have us where we are. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Hey guys, remember not too long ago we had this guy named Dooley coaching us and he didn't sign any Olineman in a class. THAT WAS BAD! While I hate that Kongbo decommited, it's not the end of the world and we'll still finish in the top 20.

Our recruiting class is going to be very bad this year. Doesn't make sense based in what Butch has done in prior years. And don't say size...most services only give you credit for the top 17 or so

It was just an easier sell when we could pitch the "you can play right now" card. Now a guy who thinks he may sit 2-3 years compared us to multiple schools where he'd be in the same situation. It's why Calipari is #1 or 2 every year, Kids want to play now.

what we must keep in mind is our class will be smaller this year due to numbers. Our ending ranking isnt going to be what we are used to under Butch simply because of numbers. We want to look at the average star number at the end. we can end up with a 3.9 avg but due to numbers wont be as high as another school with same average. I have total confidence in these coaches judging kids on the needs of the team not just the number of stars they carry

This is a crucial class because of size. Losing a recruit like Kongbo would sting in any class, but the fact its so small, intensifies that sting.

One guy won't make or break this class, and it's got some good pieces, but missing on many more of the needs remaining, would hurt in the long haul. One Dooleyesque class would be a set back. Imo
