You are pretty unfamiliar with how the process works. Do we get in a hissy fit when we tell a player that we have accepted a verbal from that he needs to look elsewhere because we have a commitment from another player? It's not a commitment until a letter is signed......that hasn't changed in decades
I hate this excuse.
You have to recruit well EVERY year to win these days or we just get to watch Bama win Championships. We used to send more talent into the NFL than most any team in the country including Bama.
A down year is never ever good.
Yes. Tennessee isn't desperate any more. Those days are over. Should want kids that want to be here. He has decommitted....look up the definition. Want kids who are committed..
Tennessee needs offensive linemen and secondary players the absolute most. Fill the needs FIRST!
Our recruiting class is going to be very bad this year. Doesn't make sense based in what Butch has done in prior years. And don't say size...most services only give you credit for the top 17 or so
lol I'm sorry but did you say his career? This is big boy ball one down year in recruiting equalls 3 years of excuses
Why? To appease the average college football fan?
It does and has for years. The issue here is on the side of those who just don't get that or refuse to understand that is just the way it is in college athletics and the recruiting process.I explained why; because it's not the definition of commitment.
It doesn't matter if you care about football or not- it doesn't make sense. There are kids that switch commitments between a handful of schools before actually signing. I guess commitment just means something different when it comes to college football.
And, don't get me wrong, I am all for kids finding the right place for them because every situation is different, but I feel the term commitment is a strange one in this situation.
It won't be "very bad" (That's crazy to say a top 20 class is very bad) But its not the kind of class we need to bring in to stay on track without a down year or two. It's certainly a mediocre class by SEC standards at this point unless something changes.
Not as many legacies, not as much in state talent this year. If you look at the last two classes, CBJ first reeled in the in-state talent and legacies to sort of springboard momentum and built the classes from that. I think we're finally starting to see what kind of classes this staff is capable of bringing in once you take those factors out of the equation.
